I really thought Wright might be that RIM PROTECTOR we need.

For what. A 25 to 30 win team thats lotto bound. That team doesn't need a rim protector.  A 50 win team making a run in the playoffs needs that rim protector, and we weren't even that team with Rondo.  If he has any sort of value to contender, ship him out!  Bass/ Green/ Thornton/ Wright and whoever else anyone wants.  Time to start picking off young talent off win now teams that need vets to put them over the top!

This is the percentage of Wright's minutes that he has played at each position over the last three seasons:

2012-13
  C:  97%
  PF:  3%

2013-14
  C:  88%
  PF:  12%

2014-15
  C:  86%
  PF:  14%

The last set of numbers is only for Dallas, but if anything it's even more Center-heavy because he has played exclusively at Center in his limited minutes with the Celtics.

His coaches apparently do not see him as a PF as you do.
He was playing with one of the best PF's in the game to be fair.

I personally don't want to ever see him play PF though - he doesn't have any offensive game outside of dunking so teams would just pack the paint (which I think is the main reason he hasn't played much PF).

I think defensively he will always struggle at C and offensively will always struggle at PF. Which is why I don't think we'll get too much for him.

skim up earlier in the thread. wright is a good defensive center according to the stats.

this team is still a few years away from even sniffing the playoffs

Everything else you said was spot on, but this is sadly not true. This current mess could simply string a few wins together and be in the playoffs. This current Eastern Conference landscape is just historically bad.
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.

We certainly WOULD have made the playoffs if we stuck with Rondo and set that as our goal. It's obvious we are tanking now, which only about 7 teams appear to be doing in the NBA right now (4 in the East). Making the playoffs was entirely possible and probable. Miami and Indiana are terrible. We've shown we can compete with the best in the East but now choose not to.

It's depressing, but given where we are, it'll be good to trade off spare parts and get some loose change for them. It's gonna be a long season.

Are you talking about the opposing FG% at the rim? I don't see how it proves he's suited for being a center.

I was mainly talking about getting beaten up physically by centers on that end. I don't think anyone could argue he can keep other bigs out of the paint - he's the worst defensive rebounder among celtic bigs that play significant minutes.

Such an idiot

Trades Rondo for nothing. Could've had Mozgov for a couple picks. Now is looking to trade one of the players he got back in the Rondo trade.

Makes sense ::)

So keeping Wright would make you feel better about a Rondo trade that you conspicuously loathe?

I feel like there's no direction to what Ainge is doing.

Lol. He's an absolute legend. I love it. Every one needs to know they're expendable. Otherwise, there will be a sense of loyalty within our organization and, as a result, we may end up attracting FAs someday.

He's the biggest joke of a GM I've ever seen. Are there worse GMs? Sure. Is he a complete idiot with no sense of how to manage people and maintain a semblance of loyalty/good vibes? Absolutely not. I'd prefer to be on the 6ers. Flame away, don't care. Probably won't respond/entertain comments. I've said this a million times - just a circular argument. Just like to point out every time he's a moron.

edit: bet aingeforthree attacks first.

No, we definitely would NOT have made the playoffs.  We were, I believe, 9-14 with three 3 game and one 5 game losing streaks.

Yes, because giving up two first-rounders for Mozgov is a stroke of genius.  ::)

My jaw dropped to the floor when [in a very negative way] you pointed out the Ainge was a Mormon at the end of your 2nd paragraph.

But then I re-read it and saw that you actually said moron  :D

Having just saw, "Book of Mormon," a few days ago, it must just still be fresh in my head.

Just a quick reminder for those fawning over Mozgov: he will be 29 before the next season starts, and his claim to fame is being able to muster 8 ppg and 8 rpg in 25 minutes this season with a little over 1 block tossed in for color.
