Team is playing great. Playing like a team.
Drummond and Monroe are playing well together. A real bad omen for the rest of the east if they can climb the steep hill to the 8th seed.
Def rooting for them.

Jeff Green would look nice on that team.

I hope they make the playoffs so we can get vintage SVG mic'd up during timeouts on national TV.

the more teams that rise up out of the basement, the better it is for us

That's an interesting idea, but I look at the Pistons roster, and see very little of interest in terms of assets.

I don't believe they'd part with Jerebko's expiring contract, rendering a package of expirings and a 1st difficult to achieve.

Butler is non-guaranteed next year.  He and Datome match for Green.  I think they'd move Butler over Jerebko.

Ah, nice find. Didn't realize that was a non-guaranteed contract for Butler for next year. I wonder if he might be a little miffed to be traded, though.

I'm rooting for the Pistons too. Gotta love whats happened to them. I remember when they had Smith I was looking at their roster and thinking how the frick is this team that has so much talent one of the worst in the NBA? Plain and simple, the Josh Smith signing was so bad that not only did he not fit in but his stank spread to the rest of his team (Remember when we were all clamoring for the Celtics to get him at all costs?). Now he's gone, and the Pistons are playing as well as I thought they were going to back when they first signed Smith and Jennings.

This might be overreaching but after their last 2 road wins in San Antonio and Dallas (2 playoff teams in a bloodbath of a conference), I think Detroit will at the very least, be a competitive force in the playoffs. Add Jeff Green to that team, and I think that puts them in the conversation of the best in the east. I really do. They got a franchise big in Drummond. A great coach in SVG. A great #2 big in Monroe. Talented point guards in Jennings and Augustin. Jodie Meeks is proving to be a solid addition to them as the dead eye shooter. Then the hypothetical Green-to-DET. I know there's nothing as far as a potential trade but I do like the potential benefits Green gives the Pistons. Green's an upgrade over what they have at the wing (Butler and Jerebko) and I think he'd do well because he wouldn't be the offensive focal point.

The real question is, what could the Celtics get back for Green from Detroit?

The Pistons have also been on a complete rebounding tear!  I think Monroe and Drummond have averaged over 14+ boards a game during this winning streak which is just crazy

I don't believe that Detroit can trade this year's 1st round pick so how about taking back expiring contracts for Green and swapping our Clippers pick for their pick?

Most players are miffed when they're traded and didn't try to force one.  I know I would.

They have no picks incoming or outgoing, so there are no restrictions on their pick(s).

Correct.  They traded their pick last year, but they're fine this year.  The common misconception to the rule about pick trading is that you can't trade picks in consecutive years, whereas the rule actually prevents you from trading picks in consecutive future years.  Now that last year is over, they're free to trade this year's.

All that aside, we have enough picks this year and next.  I'd assume wait a few years for an unprotected pick in 2019, than a protected one in the near future.

They didn't have a 1st round pick last year that was traded to Charlotte who chose Vonleh so I think that they have to have a 1st round pick this year. I guess my only question is whether a team can swap their 1st round pick for a worse 1st round pick to get around the Stepien rule.
