Nelson is still out with injury, but Thornton is good to go tonight, meaning Stevens decided to make Young inactive tonight in favor of having Thornton.

Stevens said, "It was a really tough call..."

Discuss.

Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

We need to showcase Thornton to trade him so teams knows he's healthy is the only explanation...

It sucks though was really looking forward to seeing him

I don't mind Thornton over Young, but this really means that Stevens chose Pressey over Young.  That's inexcusable.

I understand that they need to show that Thornton is healthy, but what can we honestly get for him? I'm not onboard for all of this showcasing if it merely means virtually useless second round picks. If nothing else, Thornton is an expiring contract, and I'd rather have that plus developmental time for our draft picks than some virtually useless future second.

Yeah, I wasn't even thinking about that. That makes this much worse.

Two words: showcase.
You should have put a space in there if it's two words ;-)

If we are going to showcase someone then that is great. However, recently we have been playing the guys we need to showcase like 10 minutes a game, if they are going to showcase someone that isn't enough.

We should be trading 5 of our veterans, hopefully this roster mash doesn't last too long
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Ridiculous...Sets a bad precedent.

I understand "showcasing" Thornton, etc. However, what's this say to Young and other young guys on this team? Play well and you'll sit as a reward? You build a winning mentality by rewarding those who play hard and play well...I could not be more frustrated with this decision, although I predicted it the other night during that sorry Charlotte game.

What does showcasing Thorton do? He is a known commodity . He is a 10 mil expiring , meaning teams looking to acquire him would want to send us long term salary back for Thorton to be worth trading for . We already have the TPE , Green, Bass and Wright all as expiring contracts if we need to make a big money deal .

I seriously hate this line of thinking by Stevens

Play Young you fools

I'm having flash backs of Doc back in the years before KG. Never wanted to play rookies and as soon as they played well, back on the bench!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I'M SUFFERING PTSD :-[

To be fair, Thornton had been playing pretty decently before he got hurt.  If Young hadn't been hurt himself, he would have gotten more time - Stevens said as much when Thornton went down.  Young finally got healthy, beat back Thornton by one game, and that's life.  Mountain out of a molehill.  James Young will get his chance.
