Hey was looking at mocks and a few do not list the Mavs pick for this year (updated in trade).. One goes on to say its unprotected from picks 4-14?? Any one clarify if it will be a 2015 pick for the Celtics..

Also would the 76ers 2nd round pick be this year or next year?

For cap it looks like if Jeff Green and Jameer Nelson opt out of their player contacts the Celtics will olny have 30 million on the books with the Wallace deal in its last year..

Would love to see an attempt for guys like Kawae Leonard and Andre Drummond

It's protected such that if it falls in the bottom half of the first round (which it almost certainly will), the Celtics do not receive the pick til 2016.  In 2016 it's only top 7 protected if I remember correctly.

I thought it was the same protection for 2016 as 2015 and then the protections started decreasing in 2017.

as to the OP's question about the Philly pick - we will get their second rounder in 2015 AND 2016.  should be a pretty good pick both years (as far as second rounders go)

Nope.  I went back to double check it.  Only top 7 in 2016-2020.  So, in all likelihood we'll take the pick in 2016.

1. In all likelihood we will be receiving the Maverick's 2016 first round pick. For 2015 the protections are 1-3, 15-30. But next year (through 2020) it will only be protected 1-7.

2. We will receive BOTH 2015 and 2016 2nd rounders from the 76ers. So that pick will be in the 31-33 range this year.

Also here is a link you might find useful. I use it all the time when i'm confused over pick protections:
