Ridiculous.

He averaged 8.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 1.7 steals while in Boston.  The team had a record of 9 and 14 when he left, a record that many felt represented an overachievement.

Now, all I'm reading is that he was completely checked out and wasn't trying at all in his last stint with the Cs.

Ridiculous.  Considering every thing he's gone through over the course of the last two plus seasons, Rajon Rondo showed his professionalism until the end.

He deserves a little more respect from Celtics fans.

Some of the vitriol hurled at him is shameful, in my opinion.

Agreed.

100% agreed. By no means was he a perfect player, but you'd think he sat on the sidelines pouting all day.

To me, he's the same Rondo that played with a dislocated elbow. He did come back from a broken hand this offseason that likely could've used an additional 2 weeks.

He clearly cared. Rondo strikes me as the type who wouldn't sugarcoat things if he didn't - let alone put up a front for the media.  I guess I don't get the fixation on hating someone when I can instead remember the good moments.

he showed us that ainge has lost his balls and cash in a top 10 player for pennies on the dollar

also showed us that brad can't handle nba personalities and should be coaching in the college ranks

can't wait for ainge to draft the next fab melo with that crummy pick

If he played like that every night we wouldn't have.
But we would have had arguments about whether he was worth a max contract.

Maybe give him actual NBA players for teammates and he would have.

Yeah, because other great point guards (Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, etc.) showed that they needed star teammates to thrive, too.
Um. Yeah.

Did he lead a team to a ring or something that year? Did he lead the league in assists and his position at rebs?

No, he just almost single-handedly carried them into the Western semi-finals with not much help. You know, the stuff that superstar players do.
OMG. Wow. Almost. Almost carried them to the semi finals. Wow. And with not much help. Wow. Well maybe we should have traded Rondo and all those picks for him so he could almost lead this team to the east semi finals.

Show me one thing Rondo has done (besides take defense off for two years) without a future Hall of Famer next to him. Go on, I'll wait.

what did kobe do when he had garbage around him? missed the playoffs or got booted in the 1st rd

hopefully wyc's in good enough with the league so that they can fix the lotto for us like they did New Orleans a few years ago might make the trade worth it

Really, so he didn't routinely take both plays and games off? He mostly gave it his all out there on both sides of the ball all of this year?

Yes.  That's what I'm saying.

It could be argued that the numbers he was putting up for the Celtics were better than the numbers he was putting up with the Mavs before tonight's game.

The team was a respectable 9 and 14 (I believe they were sitting in the eighth spot in the East at the time of the trade).  They had won five of their last eight games.

Rondo, despite not being perfect, was our best player.

Predictably, we've been in a nose dive since he got traded.

Yeah, I'd say he generally played like he cared.

Okay, though I'm not sure how people can make this claim without weirdly distorting facts. No player can play 100% 24/7, but it just seemed like Rondo took it to another level.

You do realize there's a reason "superstar" players have sought out other superstar players? No one is accomplished anything of importance on their own. That's why a LeBron & Bosh went to Miami to team up with DWade. Why Dwight went to Houston with James Harden.  Why CP3 went to LA with Blake Griffin. LeBrom and Love to Cleveland with Kyrie. The only "superstar" whose still trying to do it on his own is Melo. Look at how that's working out for him.

You keep asking what Rondo's done on his own, what player has accomplished anything of note on their own?

I like Rondo, but I supported the trade because he was no longer a fit in Boston.

Right now, though, I'm a little steamed.

19 shots? It took Rondo 5 games to shoot that many times with Boston this season. And 5 threes? 29 points? Where was that effort all season in Boston?

Taking threes doesn't require much effort.  Rondo just got hot tonight going 5 for 7.  He was only 3 for 8 in his previous games with Dallas.  His best two points games in Dallas have come against the C's and the Lakers.  So maybe he just took advantage of two very poor defensive teams.  Carlisle has also been encouraging Rondo to shoot even if they aren't going in.

I'm trying to figure out who the superstar players on Dallas are.  If you ranked Chandler, Dirk, Parsons and Ellis, would any of them be top 5 at their position this year?

I wouldn't consider David West and Tyson Chandler "not much help" Oh and Peja bombing threes too.

Lol celticsrondoblog.com. Dude has been gone for two weeks and there are still more threads about him then anything else. They're also the longest threads.

I got a lot more joy out of watching rondo as a C then I did disappointment watching him as a C.

As a result I'm thankful for his time here. But he's gone. Deuces. Good luck.

But I'm more concerned with marcus smart and his development. I don't want Evan Turner starting. Start smart. Baptism by Fire. We invested the 6th overall pick in him and I'm thinking we might've missed on Elfrid Payton.

Marcus needs to develop his game, especially offensively, so get this guy some consistent and extensive run please.

Name three players on the current Celtics better than prime David West, Tyson Chandler, and Peja Stojakovic. Heck, even Birdman Anderson would play significant minutes on this team.
