You know--maybe Ainge is a genius for acquiring all these picks---But there has to be a feeling around the league, that Danny has ZERO Loyalty to his players--NONE...Look how he Dumped Perkins...had Ray Allen on the block constantly...and got rid of KG/PP/Rondo at the very first scent of Draft Picks....I'm 50/50 when it comes to Ainge--I HATED the Perkins trade--cause it Gutted our Team Chemistry in a season where we were crushing games.

Draft Picks and Cap Space are fine...But it truly might take another 20+ years for this Celtics team to sniff a Finals again...I Highly doubt that some free agent is gonna sign with DANNY AINGE.
Depends on how you want to look at it, I guess.  It could be seen as loyalty that he sent KG and Pierce to a far better situation.   He sent Rondo to a better situation this year.  Rondo wasn't happy... he was obviously mailing it in, now trying in practice and was unhappy we didn't land superstars this summer.  We send him to a team that he can play competitive basketball with.  Maybe he'll show his appreciation this summer by returning if we can find some stars to stick him with.

You'll have to find someone else.  Rondo's not coming back.  You know that.

If that's true, he was never staying here to begin with, because nothing has changed.

I'm happy for Rondo that he's in a good situation.  As a Celtics fan, not so much.

Yay!!!
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

You 'fire Ainge' posters are ridiculous. Nobody with a brain would ever do that. Especially Wyc. He's not stupid.

More to the point, if Ainge thought he had a good shot at finding any stars to pair with Rondo next summer he'd still be on the roster.

But i mean... based on all those many public comments, he clearly wants to be a Celtic, mmiright?  Let's take them at face value and pretend they weren't PR.   Seems to me as long as boston gets a couple running-mates either via trade, draft or free agency,  Rondo would strongly consider returning to Boston.   I know he's dating the Mavs right now, but I don't see no extension on that finger.  We got 9 years of history, baby.  Come back to Aingie.

I say, go for it. Let's sign a couple of stars this summer and have enough cap space left to sign Rondo for close to the money that other teams offer him, even if it's a little less. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back under those circumstances. You should be able to come up with some realistic scenarios where Danny could do that based on the multitude of trade threads you've started over the years.

Sometimes, when a new, especially young, coach comes in, you have to clean house. Some players won't play for new coaches if they were spoiled with the old regime. It looks like DA is cleaning house and will build through the draft, and then try to make a splash with a legitimate trade, but that won't be this year.

I think you can build around Smart. He has the tools, and they're obviously making him do things he's never done in order to become a complete player. Watching him in College, he's always penetrated the basket where ever he's gone, yet he refuses to do it. I don't think coach wants him too.

So in the next 2 years, you will see things come together and the Celtics compete for a C, but you had to clean out the old baggage who would not buy in to the system.

Stevens doesn't want Smart to penetrate the basket? That's a new one.  ::)

Mav traded Chandler away and now he is back ......players return to their old teams sometimes.

Not impossible some old Celtic favorites could return for a on-core .

It s all based on Danny ......how fast he can upgrade the starting unit

Without some younger elite players ......or a solid core ......then I don't see Rondo coming back in his prime.

Right now the Celtics team is depleted to nearly Zip .   Jeff Green and Zeller are the only stable players .

The Celtics can't be stripped down much futher ......seriously .....it is to the point the talent level is so bad ....it's approaching the sixers .....who are on purpose fielding a rotten team for draft picks

I'm worried now if long term damage to,fan base will occur front fielding such a rotten team .

I think Danny is really under the gun...sort of like Rondo is now ....to play well every night .....DA has to restock the team with talent soon or the interest could wane to the point of bringing the club down

now we see the fruits of labor of ainge. ...! fire ainge! im tired of watching this celtics team. wrap this season up!
and ainge is hoping to land a superstar free agent??? - who will come to boston if you do not value a player? kg gets traded, pierce traded and rondo traded! DANNY "Trader" Ainge should consider that he is living because of the fans! who are going  to watch and pay tickets to watch this celtics team??

Sorry you don't have confidence in his ability to rebuild a team to Championship level. Something that he's already proven once that he can do.

Obviously, I'm sure he didn't make such a direction-changing move like the Pierce/Garnett trade without getting Wyc's stamp of approval so he has the confidence of the man in the owner's seat and that's what counts.

When Wyc rubber stamped that move, he basically committed to the rebuild. I don't think Wyc judges Danny's success until after he uses the last pick of that Nets deal. IMHO, the C's owner has signed on for the full rebuild and 2018 is the year he will expect to see results.

If the Celtics are not one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the East minimum and top 4 or 5 teams in the NBA by that time, then Danny's job security becomes an issue.
