Turner at pg and smart at the 2.

Ab should come off the bench

I'll take anything that can get wins!

Ab starting bc he plays good defense, is a vet, ok jump shot in general (streaky). But this should not mean that he should start

Coming off the bench could be a better fit

Again, I don't care who is in there, all I want is to win. Even if Jam starts! 0.0
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

you hate winning??

We have won enough games with Turner as the pg for this team.

He becomes a difficult matchup for other pgs.  He is a versatile defender. Long arms , good enough quickness

Gotta disagree, I'd rather have Smart work on his handles and aggressiveness this season and become a large, strong 1 rather than an undersized 2.

Gotta disagree.

I think Smart's position is the two.

I gotta disagree with your disagreement of his disagreement.

Even Oladipo has started at the 1 (rookie season) to improve his ball handling and playmaking ability. He still starts at PG in some games even with having drafted Payton.  He's had pretty good success in his improvements thus far.

Smart shouldn't be considered a "natural SG" just because he can play off the ball, and he isn't really the greatest shooter to be an undersized SG like that either.

They are plenty of good point gaurds that play off and on the ball, score & playmake.

Just because a PG isn't a pass first doesn't mean they aren't PG's.

I have no doubt Smart is capable of attacking the rim & running an offense he's just not showing all he can be yet.

I'd rather see Smart at pg, if for no other reason than finding good pgs is a lot harder than good sgs.  But the most important thing is to get him on the court and get him feeling good about his play.  If he turns into a rich man's Tony Allen, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Mike
I think there are more good point guards than shooting guards nowadays.  Most teams have a good point guard.

Smart does not have great handles nor natural feel for the game on the offensive game. He can still develop these things but right now  better to not stress the young guy out

He is a better pg than AB at the same age.  But still not starting material.

As a sg he plays great defense. Can cover pgs , sg , sf and even box out guys like cousins.

He is a pretty decent spot up shooter.

If they wanted Smart at sg, they should not have traded away the pg.

But they did.  Smart needs to learn to play pg, even if it cost the Celtics some wins.  This team is in player development mode.  Let them play and make mistakes now.

Wouldn't be surprised to eventually see Smart play the combo guard role alongside another combo guard. One that has the playmaking abilities to run the point, but can also be a scoring threat. With Bradley as the spark-plug off the bench that can back up both and always play off the ball.

Ainge has spoken about Young and what position he views him:

Quote
“He was a good shooter all throughout his high school life,” Ainge said. “He didn’t shoot the ball as well this year as he has in the past but he shot the ball great in the NCAA tournament. We know he’s a good shooter. He’s got a good athletic body, good size, good length for a small forward and we think he’s a prototypical small forward.”

No.  He should be the guy in Smart's ear, not in his minutes.

It was a nice move to get a win. My concern though is why are they protecting Smart so much? All pgs struggle at the beginning first full year+ yet Smart isn't being given that PG time.  Are they trading the guy soon (next off season )?

I wouldn't worry so much about Smart right now.  He'll be fine regardless of
whether he plays PG more now or more later.
He can develop some PG skills while at the 2.  Think how long it takes some of
the combo guards to take over at PG full time.  Years in many cases.
As long as he's playing and getting good minutes at one of the guard positions
he'll progress.  The issue is how he fits in a Brad Stevens system because
that's what's in store for this team.  So far he's doing a GREAT job.

If he were 100 percent destined to be a pure PG I might want him there now.  But
I don't think that's how he's viewed. I'm fine with Smart at the 2 along a scoring PG.
A combo is a combo and it's nice to have the flexibility.  Here are some imagined backcourts
where Smart would look great the 2.  I wrote in Young at SF and Bradley off the bench to emphasize that you can shooting elsewhere and off the bench (with Smart as the backup 1 if needed/desired)

J. Jack
Smart, Bradley
Young

Deron Williams (past)
Smart, Bradley
Young

Any stud PG (including Rondo)
Smart, Bradley
Young

D'Angelo Russel (maybe and hoping)
Smart, Bradley
Young

Mudiay (beat the other backcourt to a pulp) (shooters off the bench and at other positions)
Smart, Bradley
Young

Lowry
Smart, Bradley
Young

I. Thomas (? don't know about this guy...can he fit on a BS team?)
Smart, Bradley
Young
