Still learning and being brought along slowly but Marcus is going to be a "supreme" player as Tommy would put it.  For real too.  No doubt in my mind Marcus is going to be good.  He's playing off the ball but he's a pg too. That part of his game is still a work in progress is all.

We traded Rondo because we have Marcus.  It's really that simple.  We could have waited until Marcus was fully ready  but Rondo was a free agent coming up and we bit the bullet on that and let Rondo loose vs keeping Rondo here.

Played a lot of time at the 2, which I think helped him a lot. Nice game.

The 23 point game vs Washington was better.

I don't agree that it was his best but it is def one of them. Excellent game by the kid! Love it!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

He grew up a little today .

Really a heck of an NBA welcome.... Testing his moxie

He is really getting battle tested so young......he's getting all the crap at once .

He'll be a surly vet at the ripe old age of 22 years old one day and probably in the All Star game

it was a good game by him, sure. but his line against washington of 23 pts, 4 rbs, 5 assts, and 2 steals isnt too shabby either.

ok so i need a little more explanation of why this was a great game for him.  I didnt realize we played so early today and I didnt dvr the game.

I checked the boxscore and noticed he had 11 points, but 9 out of 11 came off of three pointers.  I got frustrated until i read this post, I was assuming he was just taking spot up 3's.   I dont understand why he hasnt been trying to drive to basket more and get to the free throw line.

Yeah, he was much more relaxed playing the SG position. Its a good way to get him minutes while he learns the PG position.
He's such a hustler and hard worker, he actually makes an impact on the game, while not taking a ton of shots.

The play he took the ball out of Cousins hands ......was special......he posterized Cousins below the rim.  Awesome play .   My fav of the game.

I think it's a not right now. He doesn't have the lift and needs to develop a floater or something. He also doesn't have much hang time. There was a play today when he got caught in the air and tried to pass out of it. It just seemed like he wasn't athletic enough to make a play in mid air and tried to bail himself out with a bad pass.

This is probably the most disappointing part of his game because I thought he was more athletic.

Smart reminds me a lot of Ron Artest in his early days. The physical strength, excellent hands and elite lateral quickness. Also the lack of explosive quickness and leaping ability on offense. Relying more on bullying opponent on drives than beating them with quickness and playing mostly below the rim on forays to the basket.

i too was a bit late, but watched the final 1.5 quarters. aside from stats i saw a player who healthy. his defense was classic (if such a thing is possible for a rookie) smart defense. fought over picks, bodied up, all the stuff we love.

on offense his shot was falling and his form was good. he tends to "lean back" when his shooting is off. today he looked good. and by the way, simply implying that 9 points do not "count" because they went in on three's doesnt seem very compelling.  :)

at this stage, i can wait for smart's aggressive drives to the basket. he has played in a total of 15 nba games in his life. i can be a tad more patient.

all in all, it is the sort of developmental game you hope smart will show at this stage of his career. good stuff!

oh, and lots of posters will also point to the dust up with cousins. prior to the throw down by cousins, smart put a great box out on him.

Sorry to change the topic, but is Cousins a jackass or what!

Thats all he does is complain, Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline., pout, argue. When things aren't going his way he derails his own team.

He'll never be winner.
