Per Wojo...
2015 pick protected 1-3 and 15-30
2016-2020 protected 1-7

So it looks like the C's won's use the pick until next year.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Dirk is one year older.

This is pretty good, actually.

Agreed. First time I've seen that. If Nowitzki shows sudden decline and if FAs don't re-sign, they could end up in the lottery next season in the competitive West.

But hopefully not at #1-7 :)

I've never seen protection like that on a pick before.  Has that ever been done before, where a team delays getting a pick if it's not low enough?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I haven't either. It's the sort of inventive thing our front office would think up.

Very interesting. We could easily have 3 lottery picks next season (our own pick, Brooklyn, Dallas) and also have Cleveland's 1st rd pick, and Philly's 2nd rd pick (which should be between 31-35).

If we're flipping Green, we just might add a sixth significant pick.

I haven't either. It's the sort of inventive thing our front office would think up.

The pick Houston got from the Pelicans in the Asik deal is similar - protected 1-3 and 20-30.

So not that inventive. I am surprised at the Cs allowing the 1-7 protection in future years. I am kinda hoping the Mavs just fall out of the playoffs this year, but that is probably not likely.

Somewhere Bill Belichick is nodding sagely.

Don't think it really matters. Odds of Mavs going below 7 are negligible and even if they do, we get the pick back the next year anyway.

Cleveland did that with a pick it got from Memphis in the Wayne Ellington deal, I believe.

EDIT:
