I'm a big fan of Rondo, and I think this trade really was a lowball offer.

But I don't think this trade moves the needle much for the C's either way. Obviously we don't get much better by this trade, but I also think we don't get worse.  With Smart running the offense, Brad's system will probably flow better, the pace will probably be faster, and the perimeter defense will be better. In fact, it's even conceivable that they might see a slight uptick in win percentage with the differing pieces coming in.

If we're "tanking" the rest of this year, then we will obviously try to trade Green, Bass, and Thornton. However, this late in the game we need to lose as many as possible to have any decent shot at a game-changing franchise player. But all reports have us "being patient" with other trades trying to get the best possible value out of our guys.

So this Rondo trade is a little perplexing to me. His absence won't make us lose many more games, and waiting to trade our other vets only makes our chances in the lottery that much worse.

Am I off-base here, or are others similarly perplexed?

Should be about the same as we were with Rondo.  25-30 wins.

So then why wait with trading the other vets and why force the Rondo trade right now? That record is probably a 6-8th pick in the lottery. Good enough for WCS, who I like, but not necessarily good enough for a game-changer.

If Green and a Bass stay......about the same this year.....Really sucky team , with only Zeller for Rondo to have worked with .

Oh well Danny gave up l.  Turd for brains

But there is No chance of landing a free agent star with out another star

Stars chase stars

The only chance now is a prayer of a top 3 lottery pick ......one in million it will be a person to build around , then another 10 years of hunting players to help him.....LOL

I have little faith Our stupid GM can pick another Pierce ...

He drafted Fab Melo and JJJ

Err he also drafted Rondo. Many other GMs have terrible draftees.

I wish that was the case, but we're impressively mediocre at the moment.

No. We were. Now we're horrid. We are about to see how terrible a player Marcus Smart is.

We will make 7th or 8th place. We are going to be a handful to deal with bc of our ability to run. Tire opposing teams out

Does anyone know our record (after the PP/KG trade) with and without Rondo?

You're asking the wrong question

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
