Look on the bright side... maybe if we move Rondo to a stupid team willing to gamble on a rental, we can get a pick out of it, tank this season, and then sign Rondo as a free agent with our cap space this summer.
I've always wondered if there was some sort of rule against that, because plenty of teams would employ that strategy to get further assets wouldn't they?

I don't want Rondo traded,but if he is I want him to go to a contender and I don't think Dallas would be a bad choice. There he might actually get some appreciation from the fans.

Assuming we're getting two solid 1st rounders or 1 likely lottery pick with zero protection this is a fine deal for all parties. We get the best deal possible, Dallas gets infinitely better, Rondo gets to ride off into the sunset to chase another title.

I kinda want this to happen just so I can see how ridiculously good a Mavs offense with Rondo/Ellis/Parsons/Nowitzki/Chandler is.

That is a perfectly balanced starting lineup

Rondo = Floor General
Ellis = 2nd scorer , ball handler
Parson = Glue guy
Dirk = Go to guy
Tyson = Defensive anchor

Again, so glad I chose them as one of my 5 NBA League Pass teams. That's a heckuva starting lineup.

SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

How soon after is Jeff Green dealt if this actually happens? No more than a week, right?

imo I think Danny will wait a little longer before trading Green.

My thoughts as well.  A good friend of mine is a huge Mavs fan and he's freaking out right now.

I would be surprised if Rondo is not a Maverick before the next game

The Mavs are not going to wait forever either and prob have given Danny a deadline to accept or reject the offer.   Mavs want Rondo, but likely won't give the Celts another 1st. Maybe do a 1st and option to swap one of 2016-2018 picks.  If the swap is not beneficial then get 2 future 2nds

Nobody has answered my question about Wright.  Would we have an advantage over other teams to sign him for his next contract?? or he just becomes a UFA?

Unrestricted free agent. He wouldn't be hard to keep if Ainge wanted him though. Nobody will be offering him a starting spot or big money so Ainge can easily out-bid teams.

yeah. He is getting paid 5 million right now.

Worse case if an extension can't be worked out before the deadline in feb, he can be traded then right?

The question is why would you outbid anyone for a career backup?

Yeah, I believe as long as it's before the 19th. That's why Houston was looking to get rid of their TPE by then.

If Houston trades their TPE. When would it expire for the celts?

I wouldn't. Dump him at end of season. Waste of cap space. Not even worth his current contract on a rebuilding team. Can pick up a comparable replacement for Brandan Wright easily enough. No need to go out of your way to acquire / keep a player that like that.

Already have a cost-effective backup in Tyler Zeller.

maybe, maybe not. Wright could a very good fit for the running celtics team.   He excels in transition ball

I'm not sure if it expires a year from when we get it or a year from when it was originally created. Who probably knows.
