Story going online details Celtics/Mavs talks in which Boston would get at least one first and blossoming center Brandan Wright for Rondo

Lol.  People are going to be soo... soooo mad.

Let them. You don't get full value for an expiring contract.
I mean... I've been part of debates about this for years... that if you waited too long you'll be lucky to get a late 1st for a Rondo rental.

Well we waited too long.  And now here we are... either taking a late 1st for Rondo or watching him walk.  Still stings like heck now that we approaching actually seeing it happen.

How did we wait to long ?

KG and PP were still on the team when Rondo tore his ACL . You weren't going to trade Rondo that season coming off a 7 game ECF series the year before . He came back last year in January and didn't have much value going into the off-season .

I don't understand why people keep saying this ?

guys Wright is shooting at a ridiculous .746  . Leading the league i assume?

Score!

If we got Wright, do we have any adv in terms of signing him to his next deal or he is just a UFA?

Sources told ESPN.com that the Celtics and Mavericks have been discussing a swap that would furnish Boston with multiple draft picks -- including at least one future first-rounder -- as well as blossoming Mavericks center Brandan Wright and other players needed to make the salary-cap math work.

Sources say the Celtics also have been talking to teams such as the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks about potential Rondo deals?, but that the most advanced discussions so far have been with Dallas.

Because Rondo is in the final year of his current contract, sources say that any team that can come to terms on a trade with Boston likely will request permission to confer with Rondo and agent Bill Duffy to get Rondo's input on the new destination, which gives them a level of influence into where he's ultimately dealt.

Rondo has left little doubt in recent months that he intends to test the market as a free agent in July as opposed to signing an extension with Boston. But sources say that Dallas, amid growing concern about its point guard play and sensing the opportunity to acquire a top-flight player it has coveted for some time, is confident that it could win Rondo over for the long term if trade terms can be finalized with the Celtics.

If a trade comes to fruition, Rondo would join Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons in a high-octane starting five.

I think Danny would fully agree with you (if these rumors are indeed true). Unfortunately, Rondo was totally injured during the best times to have traded him. Moving him over the summer would not be much different than moving him now. At the very least, he is proving to be a true triple double threat every game. I don't think you could have said that about him last spring.

Wright looks like Zeller 2.0 to me but if we're getting two firsts that alone is probably more than worth it. Maybe even one first if it's unprotected and around 2017~2018 when we can safely assume the Mavs will be rebuilding.

How soon after is Jeff Green dealt if this actually happens? No more than a week, right?

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
Any Rondo-apologists out there who think Woj is making this stuff up?  Just curious.  Sounds like we're shopping Rondo hard again.  Wonder if we'll find a taker this time around.  Basically running out of time... we need to move him in the next two months or risk losing him for nothing.

If the Mavs are going for Rondo hard like Woj says, what can they really offer?   WHo is on the table?

Anyone wonder if Ainge's willingness to trade Rondo has to do with how available Lance Stephenson is?  Like, if you could move Jeff Green for Stephenson and then move Rondo + picks for Parsons, would you do it?

Doubt it would be something as substantial as Parsons though.  Wright's expiring and filler assets makes more sense.

No chance the Mavs offer Parsons. Their best offer will be two 1sts and salary filler, take it or leave it.

Also, I don't think Danny wants any part of Lance.

Boston's discussing Rondo trades on multiple fronts, but Mavericks are showing an increasing interest in deal for Rondo, sources tell Yahoo."

Probably being leaked by Boston to get Vivek and the nutty folks running the Kings to send us a stupid offer.

People keep talking about Sac. I don't think Rondo resigns there. If you could choose between Vivek and Cuban, who are you hedging your bets on?

You bet on Cousins (24 year old) over Dirk (36 year old).

A team with a bright future (SAC) vs a team set for a rebuilding process in near future (DAL).

If rumors are to be believed, his agent nixed a trade to Sac last year -and that's even with his friend Rudy Gay on the team. Yes, Sac has Demarcus but they also just fired their coach and have had mismanagement issues for years. They've been stuck in rebuilding mode for ages.  Dallas may be nearing a rebuild, but I'd trust Cuban and Carlisle to get into contention more than Sac at this point.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I kinda want this to happen just so I can see how ridiculously good a Mavs offense with Rondo/Ellis/Parsons/Nowitzki/Chandler is.

What's the chance that this latest Dallas rumor is a ploy to get the Knicks/Kings/Rockets to up their offer a bit?
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I see. So Dallas is willing to give up a 1st or two plus wright and fillers not caring if Rondo will promise to resign

While teams like NYK and Kings want time to speak to Rondo and his Agent to see if he will resign with them.

If Rondo somehow promises that he would resign with the kings, knicks, can he get a better deal anyway than what the Mavs are offering??

That is a perfectly balanced starting lineup

Rondo = Floor General
Ellis = 2nd scorer , ball handler
Parson = Glue guy
Dirk = Go to guy
Tyson = Defensive anchor

I'll answer your question with a question...

You asked, "How did we wait too long?"
I'll ask, "How much more valuable is Jru Holiday than Rondo?"

.. Cuz when Holiday was traded a year ago, it netted Nerlens Noel, Dario Saric and a 1st rounder.

Rondo is about to net a late 1st and expiring contract.  Seems like we waited too long.

That is my guess as well. If we are going to be bad the rest of the season and go into the draft with two lottery picks we might as well move on a Rondo trade as soon as possible. I think the Celtics are using the media to try and push teams into offers earlier in the process than normal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Look on the bright side... maybe if we move Rondo to a stupid team willing to gamble on a rental, we can get a pick out of it, tank this season, and then sign Rondo as a free agent with our cap space this summer.

If his heart is true, he shall return.

He can come off the bench backing up Smaht.
