Quote
The Boston Celtics are exhibiting a renewed willingness to pursue trade packages that include point guard Rajon Rondo, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

As much as ever in his nine seasons in Boston, the Celtics have left strong impressions with rival organizations that they’re prepared to make a deal that includes Rondo, sources said. Boston has been engaged in discussions described as “serious” in recent days, but no trade agreement is imminent.
Boston's asking price for Rondo remains "pretty high, probably higher than most want to pay," one league official told Yahoo.

Trade talks with Rondo have been focused more in the Western Conference than Eastern, sources said.

Boston has been consistently shopping forward Jeff Green, trying to acquire a package that includes a first-round draft pick, sources said. Rondo being available would suggest Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is prepared to undergo a deeper rebuilding project and push harder for the highest possible draft position in the 2015 NBA draft.

Rondo, 28, will be a free agent in July, and Boston has been reluctant to meet his hope for a maximum – or near max – contract extension. Boston has been pleased with rookie point guard Marcus Smart, and could decide to turn the team over to him in a post-Rondo era.

Rondo has averaged eight points, 10.6 assists and 7.5 rebounds a game this season.

I was expecting more news. I wonder which teams have shown the most interest.

It would surprise to me if Anige wasn't shopping Rondo.

If they truly want to push harder for the highest possible draft position, they'll most likely need to start losing a lot more games.  At this point, they're winning too much unless they pull some miraculous Cleveland-like draw on lottery day.   They're falling off the pace if that's the true intent; 4.5 back from top three positioning.  That's not exactly easy to overcome given the low end trash out there right now.

I don't think that's the end game, but could be a result of what they want to do. Which is to add assets (players and/or picks) for players that they probably don't envision in their long term plans (Rondo, Green, Bass, etc.) and continue to develop their young players.

Phoenix has Bledsoe, Dragic, and Thomas. Charlotte just gave Walker an extension, so they seem to be happy with him.

I'm hoping for Houston. Would love to see Danny help McHale to a championship this year.

I think the biggest thing is probably Boston just not planning to re-sign Rondo, so interested to see if they can flip him, reasonably, now.

"Celtics showing willingness to trade good players" is a headline that's run ever year since Ainge took over.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Houston may be best trade partner. They want Rondo, have a TE, have two first, and some young players to deal.

It's gotta be the Kings. They're the only ones willing to approach Danny's price. Lol it would be funny if DA traded rondo just to sign him with cap space next year.

I think Dallas would be the best fit. Rondo and Dirk would be excellent in pick and pops, as would Rondo and Chandler in lobs around the basket. They have good shooter to create spacing and no one, except Ellis at times, is really ball dominant.

What about that Knicks Shump/Hardaway jr deal people here were floating around? :( :( :( ???

Is that window closed?

But really, Sacramento or Dallas makes the most sense to me, if there's truth to this report.
