...and we can be either sellers or buyers depending on whether a big piece (cough, Melo) happens to be available.

Danny has positioned us well to have that flexibility.

Melo isn't available.

Given what we know, we are sellers.

Aside from the fact that he's a superstar in his prime that just signed a huge extension and he went to NY because his wife loves it and he probably loves it too, he'd also have to waive his no trade clause, which would cost him millions.  I really don't see it happening and what is really scary is he is still one of the more likely big name guys we could get

Rondo is his buddy, he's not happy there and we can offer Phil the best package to start HIS rebuild with HIS players.

Love  to get Melo now, have him get his knee fixed, get a high draft choice and then get Monroe in the summer. Neither has played with anyone like Rondo. They will blow up.

And while it's really bad in NY, it's not implausible they wind up with a top 3 pick, sign a max FA, then deal their pick later on in the summer(or during the upcoming season) for another star, similar to what the Cavs did.

I'm not saying I'd be opposed to such a course of events, but the trick is to get Phil to give up Melo. I don't really see it happening. Plus, if I'm correct, I don't think it'd be possible to trade for Monroe and re-sign him if Melo came aboard.

I second this, move this guy already!

Sorry folks! Rondo's here to stay!

I mean, why bother?

See, this is why I spend too much time here. You just can't get spirited debate like this outside of Youtube comments and Yahoo! news article comment sections.

I beg to differ. Those debates on the Barstool comment sections get pretty intellectual.

why would phx trade thomas for rondo, that would make him 3rd best pg on that team?

I cant see a Rondo to phoenix trade happening but I could see a 3 team deal involving Thomas and Rondo. The familiarity of the front offices makes this even more possible.

Yeah, you're right. I forget about Barstool. Also, I forgot to put my two cents in regarding the Rondo situation. Put me down for a 'qualified maybe'.

You're exactly right about Monroe.

We would have to get him as a FA in the summer or in a S&T in the summer.

That's better though, because it assures us of a higher pick, with Melo on the sidelines getting his knee fixed and us losing assets that are winning us games now to acquire Melo.

That's essentially where I stand. Would you do it for an unprotected Indy 1st?

Rondo/Clips pick
Smart/Bradley
Melo/Turner
Monroe/Sully
Myles Turner (7-10 range)/Zeller

Olynyk, Wallace and picks dealt in a S&T for Monroe. Hey now, that's not bad.

Still don't see it happening.

Just for fun
Boston - Thomas, Randle
Phoenix - Lin
LAL - Rondo
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Phoenix gets mugged in a bad way here. If they're gonna take a PG for IT why not just take the better one between Rondo/Lin?

Thats my crazy Rondo and Thomas 3 team trade. The Cs would also get a 1st from the Suns and buy out Scoila.

Why,

Cs, its a total rebuild trade. They get a scoring young PG on a great value long term deal, a young high upside big man who can protect the rim on his rookie deal, and a first round pick. A bass and thorton trade would be the next likely chip to fall.

Suns, they add talent at 3 and the 5. Adding those guys to the dynamic back court of Bledsoe and Gortat really makes them dangerous.

Indy, they run the risk of losing Rondo as a FA but they potential increase in talent is worth it. Plumlee isnt a huge down grade at center and his mobility may actually be a blessing. Tucker is not just a throw in. He gives them a tough 3-D player to start next to george or player the 6th man role.

I'd keep:

Rondo, Smart, Green, Olynyk, Zeller.

Everybody else is up for grabs.
