Thoughts
1. To answer the OPs original post, I would prefer the Knicks package.
2. In either trade I would want the rights to swap the Clippers pick with either the Knicks or Kings pick in this year's draft.
3. I'm not sure when the consensus became that Rondo couldn't get us McLemore back in a deal but I don't agree with it at all.

Rondo imo won't promise either the knicks or kings he will resign with them.   Kings then will not want to give up a young stud like Mclemore.    They prob don't want to give up Stauskus but he plays the same position as Mclemore (many thought they should of taken Noah) , and will have an easier time to justify trading him away.   The Knicks already have Shumpert and JR Smith.  Its clogged at the SG position.  They can afford to give up Hardaway jr. though i'm sure they would rather give up Shumpert. Danny will ask for Hardaway Jr.
I'm not sure that McLemore is a young stud or that he's too good to be the main piece in a trade for an all star (on name recognition alone, I would be surprised if Rondo isn't an all star).
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The argument being made to neither trade Rondo nor let him walk is that we'll be further away from contention.

Rondo does not have much time left to prove he is worthy of us matching the near-max/max offers he will receive this summer from other teams like the Lakers.

How far away from contention will we be if we tie up cap space heading into two crucial summers by overpaying Rondo?

Rondo has stated several times that he wants to remain in BOS. I also believe that he would take less money if Ainge thought he could get some serious talent to BOS this summer - which I believe Ainge will.

Just my speculation, but I think that it would be more important to Rajon to WIN with HIM being the top dog and having a contending/competitive team around him. Just like Pierce was our anchor to contention, Rajon is in that same place, now.

The issue with trades like this is that some posters have such a dislike of Rajon Rondo that they would take just about ANYONE back rather than keeping him and building around him - that's the issue with my previous posts/comments in this thread.

Such a dislike only harbors bias.

We must have a SERIOUS outlook for the future if either of these trades went down. And trust me - most GMs that are eyeing Rondo will TRY to undersell us. Thankfully, we have Danny.

This is absolutely false.  You can think that bc i dislike Rondo , i would like him to be traded. But the actual trade ideas are not give me "crap" for Rondo. You must be dreaming if Rondo can fetch someone like Drummond, Klay Thompson etc.

Danny did not let KG, PP walk. He traded them and got paid.  We totally robbed the nets.
Danny is not going to let Rondo have a chance to walk.  Look at what happened to Lester.  He walks and i mean its not the end of the world for the Celts, but it would be nicer to get some assets back.  Also trading Rondo is better for Rondo's legacy as a Celtic. Imagine if he signed with the Lakers?  alot of booes from the crowed.

Except it is. Rondo for Stauskas and Derrick Williams? Seriously?

(again, did not mention the Knicks, because they wont do that trade).

remember last season?? Rondo for Mclemore and Williams? Seriously?

So what happened ?? How is Mclemore doing?

Averaging 11 points for the season. But I'll give you efficient shooter.

Come back to me when Ben McLemore can be an important piece in a winning team, because Rondo has shown that he can.

Yes playing with three future HOFers

Rondo has proven without these kind of players in the lineup he can't help a team win. He has too many flaws.

You switch Rondo with Nowtizky, Aldrige, Westbrook, Paul, Paker and we be winning alot more games

The question is, does Danny want to move fwd with Stevens and this unit (without Rondo) that he has been training or wants to dismantle this unit to get the pieces that can mask Rondo's flaws?   which is going to be easier to do??

Portland is not giving up Aldrige for Sullinger and 2 1sts btw.   Like already said rondo has brought in no FA so far. Unfortunately the Celts organization in general have problems bringing in big name FA's.  We can't move fwd with this unit + Rondo.  It won't work

He had as much big an impact as those 3 HOF. Don't be blinded by your hate, boy.

And you're right, he has proven that he can win with great talent. So instead of adding prospects that has a much bigger bust potential than being a good starter, how about using the picks and the expirings we have to give Rondo a HOF teammate or two. Or if we can't find that player/s, someone who's close?

I'm not taking away all the good stuff Rondo did . But he can't carry a team to wins.  We don't have a crappy unit also

KG, RA, PP all carried teams to win as the main guys.

You keep saying lets get the one or two HOFers. Well how?   Have you heard any rumors of Aldrige wanting out?  Or Durant? Or Lebron? . Look at what happened with Klay Thompson. Teams are reluctant to give up these kind of players.

Dude have you seen our team? Paul had Antoine, Ray had Sam Cassell, Big Dog, Rashard Lewis and Jerome James (okay that one was so funny I can't help). KG is the only exception here.

And how do we get HOF players? WE USE OUR ASSETS TO DO SO. That's why we have them. Will we able to get one? Probably not. But can we get someone close? And All-Star player? We could. Can we use it to land better players than we already have? Absolutely.

We can use our assets to get higher picks and land a future All-Star or HOF in the draft. We can use our assets to good players like (and I'm just going to throw names here) Gordon Hayward, Lance Stephenson, Larry Sanders and others. All three could improve our team in a big way.

As it is right now, if we can just defend better, we could easily be sniffing the 8th seed in the East, or better. And that's a Rondo led team despite shooting poorly. We can use our picks and expirings to get better players to help us win more games. And those new players coming in would be very helpful with Rondo in our lineup.

1st - picking a HOFer like draft pick is not realistic.  The 2015 class is not considered top notch like the 2014 was.  Better than 2013 but no HOFers or next thing "thing"  are expected from the draft.   Even still if we get a top 5 pick, its going to take them 2 or 3 years before they "get" the game, build the type of body required to excel in this league.  Rondo will be what? 32 then? Nearing the end of his contract and due to his age, health concerns will likely be worse than he is now.

Or he could still be playing in a decent level since he doesnt rely a lot on athleticism on his play.

And you highlighted those names, those guys could easily won us 3-4 games out the current record we have. Especially having Sanders as the rim protector, we could have a much decent win-loss column. We can get that kind of an impact player with our assets WITH Rondo and get a much better team. And if we play this smart, we can get an All Star player.

And as for the draft. Having a blue chip prospect playing with Rondo for however long is BETTER than having a blue chip prospect playing without Rondo.

Looking at the poll results so far, I see more people prefer the trade with Kings vs Knicks.

I think Stauskus will be a very good player in this league.   Like a taller Dragic,  Gordan Hayward, Klay Thompson type of SG.  Not saying his will be as good but his at his peak and style

Or he could be Evan Turner.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.
