John Hollinger: I've gotten a lot of messages from Celtics fans wanting to trade Pierce. Here's the thing: Focus on who you can get, not who you can get rid of. The concept of getting rid of Pierce sounds nice until its the fourth quarter of your first game and you're running plays for Raef LaFrentz and Tony Allen because you traded your best scorer.

This is a Hollinger quote from 9 years ago. This current team is pretty much the team that he's describing.

I wish there was a way to go before 2008 in the archives so I could grab a bunch of those "trade Pierce" threads and link them in the anti-Rondo threads.  I was looking the other day and couldn't figure out a way to do it.

That's hilarious to me because I tried to do exactly the same thing last week or so. For one thing, it was a different board then I think everyone had to switch over sometime around '06 or '07. Not being able to find those posts isn't all bad though, as I posted about 50 times how we should draft Brandan Wright with pick 5.

I can't tell at this point if this game and against CHA that they think they are better so they don't have to play hard or if they just don't come to play. Coaching once again in question.
IMO roster in question big time.
This team, at least as tonight, even if it could make the playoffs, it should not. I do not want us to be humiliatingly swept with 30 point defeats...
I know rebuilding, development, all that stuff, but we need some good news to start coming. This is depressing for the fan base...

Without question the team is heavily flawed and not very talented. I don't expect this team to be good, all I ask is to play hard and out of 21 teams I believe I've said at least 5x that the effort was weak. That is a huge problem with a young team.

Stevens ......could ......yes he could ride the players with the hot hand MORE .....if winning is THE true number one goal.....which may not be the plan .

Sharing learning and playing time for everybody    :-X..seems to take priority over winning every possible game .    He is in charge .....play the hot players...let disinterested players ride the pine.

Or else he play Zeller and whom ever has the hot hand 35 minutes ........LeBron  hardly ever comes out of a game .

You got to leave your horses in ...to win.

Stevens is still icing the team TOO much with his poorly chosen substitution.

Nope. Bcs Philly, Utah, Lal, Detroit and the unnamed team from NY are way ahead of us, and more are about to join the tankathon. It is pretty pointless I am afraid. Unless we ask Silver to move us to the Western Conference for a season.

That's why Philly gas choosen their strategy to rebuild......hire nothing but scrubs and loose your way to top draft picks

I feel for the people who paid $100+ per ticket to watch such a garbage effort.  No hustle, no resistance and a deserved loss at home to a team that's lost 10 in a row.  I also feel for Gorman and Tommy trying to find a way to put a positive spin on the game.  There was nothing positive.

There's a difference. Pierce is better than Rondo and plays a position with few top players. Also, Pierce was under contract because he chose to take an extension sometime during the bad years. With the rules different now Rondo and other stars simply let their deals run out. We do have his Bird rights but anything can happen in free agency.

If you are going to tank, you have to do it well. Good tanking is as difficult as setting up a contending team. This is what most people do not get.
Now what? We cannot go like, ah OK we tank the rest of the season, it is four months too late.
We are stuck in the middle, a position somewhere between 10 and 13 in the East. Worse of all possible worlds. Anyway, it is 6 am here, so I might be going bananas. I ll return to this with a cooler mind tomorrow, but now, this was not a good sign.

It's still the same regardless of the difference between players. Team plays bad and fans want them to trade their best player.

The team needs to be built around Sully, Olynyk, Bradley and Smart.

This made me laugh,  LOL.   Got to love the sarcasm.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

We had five players show up in scoring double digits.   Zeller, Thornton,  Turner, Oly and Green
(had a nice game).  Rondo scored two but had decent passing night and rebounded ok.  Sully scored zero, Marcus Smart got hurt.   Our bigs struggled more defensively.  NYC has nice games from Stoudamire, Melo and Hardaway, Jr and we had 17 TOs.

We're a bad team too.
