John Hollinger: I've gotten a lot of messages from Celtics fans wanting to trade Pierce. Here's the thing: Focus on who you can get, not who you can get rid of. The concept of getting rid of Pierce sounds nice until its the fourth quarter of your first game and you're running plays for Raef LaFrentz and Tony Allen because you traded your best scorer.

This is a Hollinger quote from 9 years ago. This current team is pretty much the team that he's describing.

Rondo is not the same type of player Pierce is. Pierce could go one-on-one with anyone and win us a game by himself late in the fourth. Rondo simply isn't that brand of offensive player. That's not to disrespect his game, but this quote needs some context.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

That was my point, and an insipid one at that. I was just spouting off in a game thread and drawing a comparison between this team and the post apocalyptic Pierceless team Hollinger described. Heck, Tony Allen WOULD be the go to guy on this team.

Edit: Eh, maybe Green I guess.

Ah, I misinterpreted you when you said "this team" to mean our current squad minus Rondo.

And lastly, Ricky Davis would slay all of the aforementioned.

TP for the pic. If memory serves me correctly, the 'Ricky D with a 'fro' era was short lived and existed simply because his hair braider was out of town.

Wow, The Celtics have shown ZERO intensity since the 2nd half of that OT loss at Washington.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

in this, another LOST season---The C's should work on ONE thing the most---Play Tyler Zeller 35-40 minutes a night....Feed him, get him 20 shots a game--turn him into the Center they're hoping to Draft....How he only got 25 minutes tonight is absurd.

The starters in particular.  This is starting to look like that year when the team got off to like a 20-2 start and then sleepwalked through the rest of the regular season.  But this team doesn't have the talent or track record to get away with that.

Stevens minutes distribution makes no sense for any of the players.

What have we seen in these first 21 games?

1.  For all his greatness, Rondo is tragically flawed.  Both in his game and in his attitude.

And how the fans treat him.

I would have Ricky Davis take about 95% of my shots on NBA 2K-whatever-it-was-at-the-time... never realised he went for the afro look!

Rondo's stat line: 32 mins, 1-3 FGM-A, 0 PTS, 7 RBS, 10 AST.

They cannot survive with him being this passive. Only 3 fg attempts? ZERO points? Come on man. This has become an extremely troubling trend this season. He legitimately cannot score. I don't care that he averages 10 assists a game. He's becoming a huge problem.

Need to put out an amber alert for Sullinger, he's literally disappeared. Its no coincidence that we're losing these games with literally no production from him. Hes scary bad right now, I wonder if hes injured.

Zeller is our most consistent frontcourt player, more mins = more production. No clue how he isn't getting 30+ mins a nigjt, should have started from day 1
