I don't think we will be bad enough to land him. Unless his stock slide throughout the season due to redflags, he will end up in top 5. I'd be ecstatic if Danny pulls another surprise trade and move up in the draft.

Imagine him along with Marcus Smart. Celtics would instantly become one of the toughest (not to be confused with best) teams in the league.

That would be incredible. The physical toughness, defense & rebounding and intensity of Marcus Smart and Stanley Johnson together on perimeter. Beautiful.

It might be worth trying to trade Smart for Stanley Johnson on draft day. Better fit with Rondo.

This, Stanley Johnson with the first pick, Dakari Johnson with the second  ;D

Roll the tanks!

Sign me but those two with Smart and Sully would make the Cs look more like a really tall football team. The projected lineup of the future would have AB looking like a tooth pick. Smart 225lbs, AB 185lbs, S Johnson 245, Sully 270 and D Johnson 280. Not to mention Young has been quoted saying he wants to eventually play at 235!

I'm all about us getting that Smart, Young, Johnson. Am I right..??

[dang] right,  that would be a great starting lineup.

I don't expect the Cs to be in the top 5 in this draft but I think this draft will have a 3 locks (Okafor, Towns, and Mudiay) in the first tier and a  solid 5-6 guys in the second tier. The 3rd tier is super deep and features guys like Hollis-Jefferson, T Jones and WCS who could easily jump into the second tier.  That may make this a draft where DA can move up a few spots to lock onto a prospect.

My projected 2nd tier would be

Winslow SF Duke
Johnson SF Arizona
Hezonia 2/3  ACB (havent seen him just read about)
Looney 4/3 UCLA
Porzingis PF ACB

I think the third tier is is very deep and has at least 5 guys who could jump into 2nd tier based on performance and team needs.

I would put Kelly Oubre in the 2nd tier too,   I also project a guy like Stanley Johnson to go no later than the 4th or 5th pick in this years draft, but that's just my opinion.

I'm for keeping Green.  I really doubt there is a realistic replacement that is at least as good as Green that would be available to us.

We already have him on our roster:  Evan Turner.  Have him put on around 10-15 pounds in the off-season and he is our starting SF.m  37% from long range this year!!

You guys do not understand how badly I want Johnson on the Celtics he would fit perfectly and court definitely see him and Smart on our next championship team, so much grit !

Gordon Hayward would fit the bill, but Wilson Chandler is probably more realistic.

here's where I struggle with the entire Jeff Green situation.  I used to hate him, now I don't mind him...Overall I have no clue whether to keep him, trade him or let him opt out and walk.

The fact is this...There aren't many good SF's in the NBA.  And the SF's that are good, are REALLY GOOD (Durant, James, George to name a few).  So in a league where there aren't too many quality all-star wings, isn't Jeff Green a good option?  This is probably why whispers are coming out that Green has more value then Rondo right now.  Rondo is playing in a PG dominate league where seemingly EVERY team has a good point guard.  The market isn't as in demand for SF's.

So unless Ainge has an idea of who could be a better SF for this team, then I guess you talk to Green about opting out then resigning at 4/40-4/46

And this is where I go back and shake my head...The thought of 4 more years of Jeff Green in a Celtics uniform almost makes me want to puke.   SO CONFUSED

If he played all the time like it was a contract year it would not be so bad.

I don't think the Celtics need to re-sign Green if he opts out.  I don't think the Celtics need to trade him.  Move him if you can get a return worth more, keep him if you can't.  But if you do trade Green and either bring back a replacement or clear cap space to sign one next summer, here's what I want:

-At least an average defender, but preferably better.  I don't want a "go-to scorer" who is useless on defense.
-At least an equivalent three-point shooter, but preferably better.  Sorry, MKG fans, but I don't think it makes sense to have a starting SF who is 3-18 career on threes when your starting PG next season is probably going to be either Rondo or Smart, who are both sub-.300 three-point shooters.
-Can function as a secondary ball-handler.  Ideally, I'd like a guy who can sometimes play as a point forward with the second unit.  Maybe Jeff Green can still be that guy.

Is there anyone who might be available who fits what I want or is Green the best option?
That would be Paul Pierce in his prime.

For Green, I want a defensive guy who plays with consistent energy, can knock down the open corner 3 and is athletic enough to finish on the break. It would be nice to have a guy who can iso score to close out games but the cost of that upgrade would be huge (unless we find it in the draft).

Would be happy with Justice Winslow, or Stanley Johsnon as athletic wing defenders, but they are probably gone when we pick. Hollis Jefferson would also be a solid pick even though he's more of a 2 than a 3.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I second the Draymond Green notion.

I could see the Celtics realistically making a run at Draymond. He's younger than Jeff, whose also proving to be the superior shooter and defender with the ability to stretch the floor as a 4 better.

The C's have a good chunk of salaries coming off the books. They could offer Draymond 12-13 mill a year, and I think it would be hard for Golden State to match that if they want to keep the core of the team (Splash Bros, Iggy, Lee, Bogut) intact.
