If your 5 best bench players are as good as 5 best starters, that's not really a recipe for success.  Both groups are mediocre weak.  I'd gladly trade all 10 of them for 5 upgrades.

The game tonight summed it up pretty well.

PG - Rondo + Smart = Redundant
SG - Bradley + Thornton = Gladly would trade both for an upgrade
SF - Green + Turner = Gladly would trade both for an upgrade
PF - Sully + Oly = Redundant
C - Zeller + Bass = Gladly would trade both for an upgrade

Danny is just collecting assets and waiting to land another star to put next to Rondo, and a rim protector too .

He is not trading Rondo for Pennies , or Smart until he raises his value .

We will have cap space opening up this summer . If we can move wallace and Bradley with a few picks to open up more cap space , we will have enough to offer a max contract, re-sign Rondo , and re-sign Green .

No need to rush , or panic and make dumb trades ( see Joe Johnson for Tony Delk and Rodney Rodgers )

You are one of the main people talking about upgrades as if there are a lot of guys out there so much better and guys who are available. Say what you want about Jeff, there is not ONE upgrade to him out there that is available! I dare you to show me one.

I'm not going to go back and forth on the other guys b/c you are always going to think the grass is greener with other players!

It always happens.

Look at Jet and Lee. Everyone was so happy when we got them, they didn't mesh well and everyone started to say they sucked. Perk sucked, let you all tell it, and now all of a sudden, we are lost without him.  ::)

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I would trade everybody on the team except Smart and Young......for Drummond  and rebuild around him with DA's assets....

Ok .....I'm waking up now

Great dream

Unfortunately NBA players are not fungible assets. What teams are willing to trade two inferior players for a superior one? There are very few elite players in the NBA and trading for them is exceedingly difficult.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

The point is that our roster is a mess of mediocrity and redundancies.    There's nobody we can't afford to lose from our starting lineup... at pretty much every position there's a player or two on the bench who could fill in without it hurting us in a significant way.    That goes for everyone in the starting lineup.   If we traded Jeff Green + a couple of our bench players for a center, we could still have Turner fill Green's role.  If we traded Rondo and Bradley for an upgraded shooting guard, we could still have Smart fill the PG role.  If we moved Sully + Bass + Thornton for a legit center,  Oly can fill in fine at PF.

This is a team very much lacking in exceptional talent.  It's built for a trade.

Yep. Jeff Green is earning himself a nice contract. He's now a threat posting up. And he's starting to pull up in the lane which I rarely saw him do before.

I think the question is not who is better then Jeff Green. But how much do the Celtics pay him. He's currently in the top 25 for points per game and climbing. And if the Celtics can get closer to 500, I think he might make the all-star game.

I say pay that man his money. It would suck to lose Jeff Green.

No, the point is, you can say the same about most of the teams in the league. That's just one thing you aren't taking into account but have fun making these threads after every game.

Jeff is a terrific second option on offense, but still need a go to scorer to put next to him and Rondo.

Ideally roster will look like this

Rondo         / smart
go to SG     / young
Green         / turner
Sully           / KO
Rim protector / Zellar

Will likely have to move a few of (Smart, Sully, KO, Young, Zellar or picks) to get our go to scorer and rim protector .

I would SO sell high on Jeff Green right now... no question.  One does not take a leap at age 28.  He is what he is.

I think Marcus Smart is the only player on this team I'd hesitate to trade.

ok but he's adding to his game. You don't see it?

He looks about the same as he always has looked to me.  Good scorer.  Probably a 3rd or 4th option on a good team.    Poor man's Rudy Gay.

Silly me, I thought it showed how tough and deep this team is.

I'm gutted that we lost, but very proud of my team right now.

DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I honestly couldn't tell you who would win in a seven game series, the Celtic starters or the Celtic bench. Lol.

Agreed... The Spurs do alright. Their bench is a bit redundant. Depth that can emulate a starters' role is important. A panic trade could mess up the chemistry.

After the first five teams in the East, who can't we beat? Had we beat the Wiz tonight we're on a 4 game win streak and in 8th. The 6th - 8th seed is in play. The Nets, Hawks, and Bucks are not scary teams.
