He's just the latest in the Steimsma/Collins/Darko/Faverani rotation of backup bigs who see the court because we don't have anyone better.
I think he's easily the best out of those group. He also has a much higher upside than any of those guys.

He definitely doesn't have the upside that Darko did a decade ago. But, sure, even if he is the best of the batch, he's still in that strata of players who wouldn't be seeing more than 10-15 backup minutes on a contending team.

Agreed. Good point about Darko.

I think does surpass them all though if only because of his IQ.

Pre-draft Darko was believed to have had more potential, but not after seeing them actually play in the league nor did they have the same potential at the age of 24.  So I don't see how the comparison is relevant whatsoever.  Zeller right now is better than Darko ever was.  Zeller is a very good  rotational backup for a good team and a starter for a bad team.  There is value in that.

We didn't get that Darko, we got the 2012 version; it's very fair to say 2012 Darko had less potential than 2014 Zeller.  And as long as we're quibbling, that Darko didn't really see the court either - 5 regular season minutes in green.
