Not that I would ever wish an injury on any players (Celtic or otherwise) but thats a valid point. I would love to see James get like 10 mins at least.
i understand how we all want better players on the celtics right now. however, young's defense is so poor that his presence for 10 minutes a game will not make the celtics a better team. plus, wins and loses are not the goal this season.
by bringing him up for only 10 minutes a night, the celtics might very well DELAY his development since he is now getting a lot more minutes in the Dleague. it is those extra minutes that will allow him to develop all parts of his game more quickly.
so, i don't agree that bringing up young would help anyone....except folks who like to post on cb.
So let me get this straight - he shouldn't get minutes because of his defense on a terrible defensive team that is lottery-bound again. Wait, what? You realize that you just contradicted yourself there, right, lol?
It would be one thing if this was 2008-12, when we were contenders, but we're rebuilding now, and to not give perhaps one of the best offensive players on our team (potentially) the minutes he needs to develop in favor of veterans on a horrible defensive team that won't even come close to making the playoffs makes absolutely no sense. Remember, too, that Young is not only willing to take the big shot, but he made a ton of them last year in the most crucial moments during the NCAA Tournament, and we desperately need a closer. Give him a shot - he might pleasantly surprise you; and if he screws up, don't bench him for the next week. Keep playing him, maybe even more minutes, because the only way he's going to get better is through in-game experience. D-league minutes are not the same as NBA minutes. It's just like in baseball - sure a guy can get some experience against the best in the minors, but that's not even close to being the same thing as facing Pedro Martinez.
no. the two points are (1) young does not deserve to play, nor would help the celtics, due to his defense. 10 minutes of his play is not consequential and actually hurts his development. (2) the poster to whom i am replying seemed to be implying that young could make a difference in w/l, and my reply was that w/l is not the point of this team this season. the second point was not tied to the first as a pairing, but rather as a response to a poster who seemed to state that winning was important.
while my points would be contradictory if presented as you say, the point here is that they were not connected in that fashion.
Right, but it's better than nothing, imo - at least until someone's traded, like Thornton. I'd honestly like to see Young get Bradley's minutes. Not as a starter, but off the bench, if Smart is moved into the starting lineup. We need something to give us hope for the future other than the promise of more chances in the lottery, in which we'll only get screwed, per league policy, lol, and maybe Young can be that guy - especially because we have no idea what his ceiling is, while Avery Bradley doesn't look like he's going to continue to evolve that much more as a player, imo. Jalen Rose likened Young to Morris Peterson, and nbadraft.net compared him to Michael Redd coming out of high school (I guess that he was one of the top scorers in his class, and now I see why

), so I say throw him out there, lol

.
Sorry for pointing out what appeared to be contradicting statements, btw, haha
