Not that I would ever wish an injury on any players (Celtic or otherwise) but thats a valid point. I would love to see James get like 10 mins at least.
i understand how we all want better players on the celtics right now. however, young's defense is so poor that his presence for 10 minutes a game will not make the celtics a better team. plus, wins and loses are not the goal this season.

by bringing him up for only 10 minutes a night, the celtics might very well DELAY his development since he is now getting a lot more minutes in the Dleague. it is those extra minutes that will allow him to develop all parts of his game more quickly.

so, i don't agree that bringing up young would help anyone....except folks who like to post on cb.  ;D
I think 8-10 minutes against quality competition is a lot better then 30 plus minutes in the D league.

pretty much agree, Fab Melo dominated in the D-League too.

Fab Melo couldn't shoot threes.

Young has one of the sweetest shots I have ever seen.

I agree, thats why I want him on the celtics roster playing at least 10 min per game. I was just saying it's easy to dominate inferior competition . He is likely the best shooter on the roster , lets see him do it with the C's bench .

I think the slow development is the way to go, he is very young.   I do not want his confidence shattered in a season where we are going nowhere.

No need to rush him, I say keep playing him in Maine. With the way things are going I expect some shake up moves at the allstar break and to see Young get some minutes the last month of the season. Next year I expect Young to get a solid chunk of minutes as the backup 2/3.

Add that to the practice time he will get with the big club, and maybe that makes some sense.

Reminds me a lot of Mike Miller -- who has one of the cleanest jumpers in the league.

patience... gotta showcase the bums first with hopes of getting a trade done.

Young is 19.  He's got a future.  I'm pumped.

God knows we could use the outside shooting, and I think someone improves more playing limited minutes against NBA talent than dominating inferior talent. But being bad defensively is one thing, not understanding the defensive schemes and what you're supposed to be doing on the court is something else entirely. I'm excited to see Young finally get some playing time, but you can't put him out there if he's just going to be lost on one end, at least not yet at this point in the season.

He's pretty 1 dimensional at this point, but what do we have to lose?  The kid can definitely knock down 3's.  Ultra fast release and smooth stroke.
I saw some nice plays he made with the ball in his hands. He definitely has a feel for the game and is not one dimensional.
I didn't watch the most recent game, but I did watch the previous two.  He looked limited putting the ball on the floor... didn't finish very strong, got stripped a couple times.  Very small sample.  I know he looked totally lost in garbage time against the Spurs.

I don't care how well he is shooting.  I think his NBA minutes should be based on how well he is learning to play defense.  Not sure how true it is, but Young was described as lacking in basic defensive fundamentals in scouting reports.  It's not a good thing when I have seen his defense compared multiple times to James Harden.

Agreed, with guys like this I'd be more interested in "defensive lowlights" videos than "shooting highlights" videos.

Not sure why there aren't more of those. Lowlights are one of the things that make DX player previews so terrific.
I would argue that he's not an average offensive player for a rookie. The guy can play and might be our best shooter. Why hold this guy back any longer?

Also, look at the two players he's competing against. Jeff Green may be the worst close out defender in the league. And Turner is pretty slow side to side on D.

I'm not really interested in creating a monster who feels entitled to shots and minutes and keeps chucking away because he thinks that all he has to do is score and defensive effort is unnecessary.

I saw the Red Claw game of youtube last night. What a sweet shooter that kid is, he had 20 points at the half. His defense is a work in progress, but should come along as he matures.

Greedy me, I'd really like to see him get minutes at some point this season. Down deep I know he could be something special, why rush him.

So you want to hold him back on the assumption he won't play good defense if he scores too much? And if he scores too much too often, he will then become a monster who feels he's entitled to act how he wants? I feel that's a bit unfair considering you probably don't know Mr Young's character.

I will happily defend my goal of not having him turn into Dion Waiters.

Dion Waiters was always doomed to be Dion Waiters.
