If we're dealing Rondo, which prospect would you most want to see come our way?

I know any subject involving Rondo is cause for trouble, but let's keep the discussion light, please. Purely an academic question I'm asking.

Clarification: the question is without context of fit for the team trading for Rondo but does concern the talent of any prospect realistically available. For example, my answer is Gorgui Dieng. It may not make positional sense for the Wolves to pull the trigger on this one but it is a trade that I believe represents fair value with talent, financial situation and age being the primary factors. Anthony Davis, Andre Drummond, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard are all fantastic prospects, but I doubt the Hornets, Pistons, Bucks or Spurs would deal any of the respective four for Rondo straight up.

Davis/Cousins will be perfect
But it's not possible, they are just different world players

I don't think anyone is going to give up good value for Rondo. His expiring contract makes him difficult to trade. I think Ainge would be looking more at a Jeff Green level prospect (a good starter) than a genuine star.

Yeah, the reason I started the thread is because recently I've become fascinated with the possible returns we could get for Rondo in a three- or four-team deal. Thus, positional fit is not of major importance. For example...

Yeah this is kind of difficult.  I mean we all can dream about great combinations of young players and picks.  But there aren't that many likely options with us bringing in a good haul. 

I wouldn't mind Noel and something else.  But what kind of extras are we going to have to take on to get that to work in a 3 or 4 team deal?

Who knows what DA does though.  He isn't trading Rondo unless he feels like he can get good value, maybe he rolls the dice and lets Rondo get to free agency and makes him a team friendly offer.

I just hate the idea of us losing Rondo and only getting back flotsam and jetsam that we have to unload again anyways.  Might have more flexibility to have the cap space, even if it doesn't bring us a superstar, at least we get to determine the cost / length of contract for those we do bring in.

Ben McLemore was about the best we could have done for Rondo and I think that ship sailed.  He's played too well for Sacto to give him up.


At this point, I don't think anyone is giving up anything substantial for Rondo.  We're gonna have to try to resign him... but I don't think we are the frontrunners when he hits free agency.

Adrian Payne, Denis Schroeder,  and a lottery pick.  Throw in Olynyck and take
their second rounder as well.  Teague to the Lakers.  Lin to the Hawks to back
up Rondo.  Atlanta gets L.A. second round pick.

I think Rondo is pretty much untradeable at this point.

Maybe a contending team with a bad contract to unload would want him.

at this point if you could get Amare's expiring for Rondo + Wallace, it's a win.
