The best way to tank is to "go small" in the fourth quarter.

Which is what we are doing.
no. if the celtics were dead serious, "M. L. Carr" level committed to losing, in the 4th quarter you would see a line up with pressey, powell, young, and turner. THAT would be blatant and effective tanking.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think Miles Turner, kid from TX, is a good fit for us. Great shot blocker. Early reports on his play according to Chad Ford are very favorable.  Also more realistic that he is available when we pick. I think both Okafor and Towne will be long gone when we pick.

I also like Porzingis, no one seems to talk about him on this board.

I still think C's will be a bottom-5 team at the end of the season without having to make any trades to get worse.  I actually think bottom 3 before the season started but didn't foresee the Lakers being so absolutely horrific with Kobe back.

We'll be in play for a top 3 pick again in this draft and I don't see us picking worse than 6th.  We'll get another really good prospect this year without having to win the lottery.

I have watched 2 UK games this year  and so far he looks weak and not ready for prime time.  This is to be expected from a freshmen adjusting on a star studded team.  He is a good rebounder and nasty shot blocker.  It's early but they lock this kid in the weight room.  He has all the tools and is going to be tough later on, he gets knocked down now but gets right back up.

I think Dakari Johnson is a better big right now than Towns.  Now in the long run it is going to be up for debate.

Last year we had to tank because it was a once in a generation draft full of franchise cornerstones. Forgive me if I don't get overly excited about next year's prospects yet.

I'm glad we got Smart, aren't you?
I'd 100% do it all again if it meant we picked up a player of Smart's caliber.

And this is based on what?

The 4 or 5 games we've seen him play this season?

Yes.  After college, preseason, and 4 or 5 games, I'll put my stamp of approval on Smart.  Absolutely no way, barring catastrophic injury, that he is not a starting caliber player.  He literally plays All-NBA caliber defense right now.  No hyperbole, no exaggeration.  If he can muster any sort of offensive game and improve his decision-making, we'll have something special.  Floor: Tony Allen, Ceiling: Joe Dumars

The Celtics arent bad enough to get Towns or Okafor even if they tank

They would have to get rid of at least Rondo, Green and Sullinger or Olynyk to outtank the sixers, lakers, magic i.e

If the Celtics really want either of them the best bet might be to trade their pick and a collection of future picks with some decent assets for a high pick
