Quote

Marc Gasol will be the New York Knicks' main free agent target next offseason, but the San Antonio Spurs will pursue Gasol assuming Tim Duncan retires after the season.

Gasol is also appealed by staying with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies can offer Gasol the most money, and he has grown to love the city, having lived there since high school when Pau Gasol broke into the NBA.

Is there a team with cap space who won't pursue Gasol? Everyone will give his agent a call if they have room, or even if they don't if the have a plan to manufacture some.

Same thing that happened with Howard, all-star level big men are in demand beyond what the max salary can pay them.

I think he stays in Memphis or goes to the Lakers (assuming they get someone else as well).

Why would he go to the Lakers?

Celtics are also expected to go after Gasol. So are 20 other teams. This is not really anything new

It would be pretty shocking to see the Spurs sign an international guy  ;D

Why would he go to the Lakers?

You would think his brother would probably speak pretty negatively of playing with late career kobe...

You mean the Kobe that will have 1 year left and then will be gone.

No way he is a Laker .....even their fans are commenting on how glade they are to see Pau get out from the brow beating and head games Kobe dished out on a regular basis. LA is wreck ,  bad players , grumpy old Kobe , pressure cooker , no supporting cast ....just nothing there .

I think Celtics gave as good as chance as anybody , IF Rondo is retained ......DA has the assets and a decent coach .

When you are going to be a 30 year old center with probably 3-4 years of your prime left, and have your choice of playing for any team in the league. Signing up for a minimum of one year of being miserable is a pretty significant factor. Not sure what your point is.

Yeah I don't see how the Lakers are an attractive situation for him. FAs of his caliber don't typically sign with lottery teams.

if Gasol wants to go play in San Antonio...I hope he's ready to play for around $10 million a year....cause that's what they do there.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I don't think so.

Gasol willingly left the Lakers and relocated his life and career this past offseason. Obviously he was not 100% happy, particularly in recent years or he would have stayed. You think a guy that was throwing his shoes around the locker room last year is seriously going to tell his brother to go there?

But don't take my word Gasol was unhappy, take his...

I don't disagree that Gasol was unhappy with the Lakers, but that's not what you were talking about, was it?
