He did well in the D League, better than Melo ever did.   

You sure? Melo had a 15 pts, 16 reb, and 14 blk game and followed that with 32 pts, 9 reb, and 9 blk.

But he was a much better college player than Melo.   Who drafts a guy  who scored 8 PPG and a seven footer who gets 6 RPG.   Horrible college player.

they still lost that game.

I'm not saying you don't have a point. But Melo had an low IQ and was never going to make it in the nba. Powell different story. We can't jump the gun and say he will be the next star, but making a nba lineup as a backup looks quite possible
