16 points in 21 minutes tonight, on 4-5 from the floor (all 3s), and his shooting percentage is up drastically from what it was with us and the Nets.  Figures.  I know that it's obviously a small sample size, but the guy looked done last year, so could anyone who has watched the Rockets tell me why he's suddenly returned to being himself, lol?  Any theories?  It's just frustrating, imo.  Sigh.

He's the league's forth most prolific three point shooter, is sitting very close to getting to number three on the all time list by making more threes, and is playing for a coach and a team that want him to shoot as many threes as possible as often as possible.

I think he voluntarily missed half of last season after the Nets traded him to the Kings in order to rehab his knee. Looks like good health and a return to Texas has rejuvenated his spirits quite a bit.

From what I have seen of Jason Terry, I haven't been impressed. His all-around game has been of a low standard. Bad defense. Lousy rebounding. Very basic ball-handling. No dribble penetration. Basic passing. No playmaking. No creative play. Limited capacity to create offense. Relies on others to get him good shot attempts. Basically plays off the ball as a one dimensional spot up shooter.

Right now, Terry is shooting lights out so a lot of his limitations are being overlooked while he is enjoying this hot streak. But as his hot shooting comes back down to Earth, all those limitations are going to be exposed further and he is going to be shown up for the limited role player he now is at this late stage of his career.

A team has found the proper role for him at this stage in his career and he is rewarding them right now.

Little thing called Law of Averages.  He is playing really well because he is being really efficient, but there is no chance Terry continues shooting 50% from the field and 54% from 3.

Jason Terry wasn't a bottom of the league player with us, despite what a lot of people will tell you.  He was a 10ppg, 2.5apg guy with 43% shooting and 37% from 3 (which is right with his career efficiency).

Just so happened that the Celtics needed a little more out of those minutes, and also, for some reason fans thought he would be the new Ray Allen.  Ray spoiled us way more than anybody will admit.  Regardless, Terry's shooting is the stuff of legends.  He somehow has shot in between .362 and .379 from 3 in each of the past 7 consecutive seasons.  I dare you to find another shooter with that little variation.

Chances are that's the ballpark he'll land in by the end of the year.  And if not, all that means is he finally re-joined the ranks of every other pure shooter who have up and down shooting percentages.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Because he isn't being asked to play Defense by the rockets. He just comes in and guns it, which was always his game.
