can't disagree with that...

i think rondo definitely can fit here and i think it would be our best option, but only if he 100 percent buys in...

I can't believe that someone complained about getting  a "defensive specialist" Marcus Smart was a good pick, there is no one that was drafted after him that I would rather have.

Fine. Maybe Smart will be a (mini & non-psycho) Ron Artest. Tough nosed, All NBA defense as his calling card, but plenty respectable scoring potential as he develops over time.  I'd be find w/ that.

Rondo will need to play the motion offense , read and react ..whatever ....

If he does not and pounds the ball

He'll be traded

Completely agree - I have little confidence that Rondo will adjust....

when rondo's contract comes up in five years, smart is young grizzled vet at 25 - you make decisions from there.

So True!   Lock Rondo up for 3/6 years at 15/16/17/18/19/20    Pressy 3/4 at 1/2/3/4   When Rondo expires Sign Smart to the bigger deal.

yep, exactly. let's say it's true that rondo actually does attract big name freeagents.

let's also say we're able to sign either marc gasol or hibbert via free agency.

hibbert or gasol / zeller / faverani
sully / olynyk / powell
green / crash / turner
bradley / thornton / young
rondo / smart / pressey

i'd prefer gasol, and if we could get him, i think the above is a chmpionship contender - that's just a bruising team and for the next 2-3 years you're only major money is tied up with gasol and rondo.  we develop all our young inexpensive guys, see who pans out and by the time they're ready to re-up, gasol and rondo are nearing contract expiration.

same scenario of rondo/smart applies for bradley / young as well.

Smart needs to cut down his body fat from 10 to 7 per

I agree.  This is the area that will keep him from his potential.  Someone said earlier that Smart isnt a great athlete.  Wrong!  The kid has a higher standing verticle than D Wade or Westbrook had when drafted, He scored higher than most all guards in the agility minus D Wade whom was incredible. And his quickness is not that far off of these guys.  By the way he was drafted nearly 40 pounds heavier than Westbrook and 20 more than wade.  Smart is a great athlete and with 10+ percent body fat he will certainly improve on all of these stats when he gets down to 6 or 7% body fat.  It will happen.

His handles are light years ahead of Bradleys especially during contact. I have been very pleased so far. And I expect him to improve.  Honestly I believe he needs all of the hate which he will use as motivation. The kid is passionate and when he focuses that passion he will likley be an allstar.

I think he will work if he adjust.  All he has to do is watch old Jazz games.  Stockton prods, passes left, cuts to the right baseline and sets a pick for a slach down the lane or to the right elbo jumper, depending on scenero he then cuts baseline but cuts, once under the basket to set a back screen on the high post player whom gets deeper position all the while the defense is turning their heads and getting lost. It works better with players that can shoot but it will give Rondo more space when catching so he will know he is going to shoot which always makes you a better shooter. And we have some excellent slashers on this team.  I like the potential.

It didn't count, but that reverse put-back dunk he had on the fast break in the last game was pretty impressive. We haven't had a guy who could do that in a while honestly. Green is a power dunker, but he doesn't contort his body like that in game.

That put-back was nice, but lets not act like Bradley doesn't have plenty of nice put-backs with the Celtics.  He can do all type's of fancy dunks.
