as a 50 year celtic fan, I'm not happy with the way danny built this team. it not a playoff team and will be a mess with a hodge podge of players. danny could have gotten 1 proven veteran for this team. guess what we can't shoot.

It's the "collect and develop assets" phase of the rebuild, which is why it's a hodge podge of players. I'm pretty sure his goal is not the playoffs this year, it's raising the value of our assets so that he can trade them for a star player or two to add to Rondo.

In today's NBA system, adding a vet or two to a bunch of young players leads to long term mediocrity.

I can't really argue with not being happy with the team. Since the guy has been a fan of C's that long he has seen the best to wear green. All I can say is I believe Danny is trying hard to build a team long term. That takes some time after a top of roster turn over. I hope the young guys earn your approval. I look forward to cheering them on.

What else was he supposed to do?  Who was this proven veteran Danny "could" have gotten?

Maybe your one of the people who believed him when he said the Celtics do not tank.   I think he tried but our assets were not as good as some believed they were and MIN got a better offer.   I am going to hope our kids play a lot and develop either into keepers or assets.  I hope we get a good draft pick next year and a franchise player because right now I am not certain we have one.

Its so easy to complain.

Honestly.

Like I'm not trying to single, name call, or be hurtful to any fans here, but... The easiest thing to do as a fan is complain about this, or complain about that. There are over 20 teams, and half of them aren't anywhere near contention, or even having the right pieces for years to come... The Celtics? Are closer than you think..

No, we didn't get Kevin Love. No, the draft lottery screwed us over again. Yes, our assets, and young players don't seem like anything spectacular. But I trust Danny Ainge. He turned one of the worst seasons to a championship the next year... Who else can do that? The FA next year isn't anything special except for great big men like LMA, Gasol, Hibbert, etc. But... I'm putting all my faith in Ainge, because hes the one who brought us the championship, and hes the one whos going to bring us back to one again.

Look at the assets hes given us... Boat load of picks, young players with potential, and cap space flexibility next year...

We knew this year wasn't going to be anything special after Love went to CLE.

This year is just seeing what we got in our young prospects. I personally don't want to give up James Young or Smart, because those two can be great players one day. But push comes to shove, if Ainge sees an opening, hes gonna strike the iron while its hot.

I'm prepared to wait for a long rebuild or wait for another 2007-2008 to happen. Whichever route Ainge goes, I'm prepared to put absolute 100% trust into him..

He got us KG/Allen, and now hes got us enough assets, and hopefully those assets can nab us a star or bring us the next future franchise player in the draft.

Like Monk said.    The team is what it is.  All the stuff that went wrong ...history now......just hope couple of these guys make it to the next Boston contender team.

If one or two make it till that point they will be lucky ducks.

Smart has a pro-ready body. He's built like a heavyweight boxer with welterweight speed. Young won't start for several years. He's 19. How many 19 year olds have EVER started at small forward/shooting guard for any team in the NBA. Remember when we had Gerald Green at Young's age? I'm not saying Young is Green-like? He did go to college for a year, but it's going to take a while for him to get his "sea legs" under him.

Our hope is that Brad Stevens can teach defense to the kids. Ingrain it like Thibodeau did as assistant for Doc. Come close to the playoffs in May 2015 then grab a big next year ... there's a few good ones coming up. Pray to your God that when they change the way the Lottery is selected for 2015 we are lucky for once. Grab FA M. Gasol and go for it the next 5 years.
