I'm starting to dislike TPE's.. Jerk mode, but no one knows how they work or how they're even made and any trade thread always turns into pages of people not understanding it.

I understand how they work.  Sometimes, I think you shouldn't be allowed to post trade ideas if you don't understand how TPEs work, but that would eliminate 90% of the threads.

I love that we get Dwight Powell. Great back up PF with length, leadership and skills.

6'11" 234 lbs seems a bit skinny, though, but at least he's not JJ skinny lol.  I don't know anything about him, so, does he block shots?  Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes... ;D

How do I put this?.......

7’0”5 wingspan was shorter than expected … Averaged less than a shot block per game for his collegiate career … While narrow shoulders might always restrict his build, he’ll need to hit the weight room for core and lower body ... Not much of a vocal leader ...

Well, adios!

If it were me, I'd take the evil I don't know and cut Pressey loose. I guess that might upset a very small portion of the members of this blog.

I love lil Press but I won't blink either way. I would keep Press over him b/c I go opposite of you and go with what I know unless the other player is intriguing. Still, either guy won't cause me to lose sleep.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Any chance this is a move by Cleveland to make cap space to give Ray Allen more than the minimum?

Don't understand why people are down on Powell because he's not a shot blocker.

A mobile, uptempo athletic big with good passing instincts and basketball IQ is definitely worth a look.

....and for the rest of the story, from the same source:

Quote
Strengths: Mobile and highly coordinated big man with an all-purpose skill set. Measured in at 6?11 (with shoes) at the NBA combine, and has added 20+ lbs. of muscle since arriving on campus a string bean ? 6.2% body fat ? Powell remains a free and easy mover despite upgrades to his frame ? He hovers, no clunking ? Fluid gait ? Runs the floor productively with well above average end to end speed ... He was Stanford?s most reliable playmaker/facilitator by a wide margin as a senior (3.1 assists). Excellent distributor, surveying the action and possesses a natural guard feel ? Basketball IQ is a considerable checkmark in his favor ? Face up 4-man ? quickness and ball handling variety ? Jump shot stroke looks pure in the mid-range and collegiate three-pointer was not foreign to his repertoire (46% as junior, 14 total makes) ? 80% free throw shooter in 2012-2013 ? Projection as pick-and-pop threat is entirely foreseeable ? Lateral agility is an asset on the defensive end where he can hedge and return to position comfortably ? Versatility to kill center minutes at 6?11 ? No defining quality but package to be immediate piece of the puzzle ? High character kid that interviewed well during the combine process ... Has more potential than the average senior ...

powell is at least 2 years away from just being a bench player in the nba. He is 15-20 underweight, not a good rebounder for his size and needs to work on his post game.

D league , overseas or will be cut imo

I'm emotionless about it, like Lump was in that song.

Are you sincerely excited about this guy? He was a mid second round pick who had a lousy Senior year. Sure I hope he's a diamond in the rough, but as of now he isn't even a safe bet to be on an NBA roster by the end of October.

I'm not, I'm one of few who could care less about shot blocking (I think it's great and all but not a necessity). I do want another big who can defend though.

From the things just posted by someone else, he has the potential to defend the way I like, quick enough to get around and help others and sounds as though he can switch onto perimeter players and do fine. Sign me up if it's right. Mobility is a good thing for a big man defensively.

I'm not excited. I'm also not automatically chucking him into the trash bin like a few around here.

Let him fight for a roster spot, see what happens.
