or team(s).

My list is

-Cavs.  Lebron is Lebron and i don't think the guy has been eliminated in the first round in the last.... years

-Bulls. If Rose is really back 100 percent, this is a team nobody in the nba will want to face.  Gasol, Noah, Gibson makeup a pretty tough looking frontcourt trio.  Butler is underrated and a heck of a defender.  Mcbuckets and Mirotic shouldn't be taken lightly and could really stretch out the floor.

Outside of these two teams, no other teams would really scare me.

The Heat don't scare me.  AB and Smart sufficating Dwade on the court would be a treat to see.

TP, just so odd to see on 9/25/14 with threads about Rondo's departure and Karl Towns' future still active topics.

I'm going to take a bit of a different approach and say Washington.

To be honest, I think the Gortat/Nene combo is probably the best offensive front court in the NBA,  while their backcourt of Wall/Beal has more than enough talent to give our Rondo/Bradley backcourt serious trouble.   Throw in a veteran Paul Pierce (who lives for the big stage)  and I think you have one of the toughest teams in the east.

I'm not as worried about Chicago.  All signs suggest Rose will be half the player he once was (and even at his best he never gave us that much trouble),  Noah is not much threat offensively,  Gasol is skilled but hes also old and very injury prone,  and the rest of their roster is meh.

Also Rose and Gasol are both well known to Choke under playoff pressure.  I thin Washington are much scarier.

Gortat and nene? Really?  Nothing special  imo

Pierce is not a starter anymore.  Wall and Beal backcourt is dangerous though

triboy, I tend to sway away every now and then from CBlog and don't study every prominent poster's tendencies, but I know you think Olynyk's great and Rondo needs to go. I never took you for a guy that thought the current group as assembled would be some 50+ win team. Are you?

I'm a Pollyanna, I think. I look at our roster and think we have at least mediocrity at the 1-4 spots, and could maybe piecemeal some center situation or maybe a trade at the deadline where we could get a legit 5 and punch somebody in the mouth in the playoffs.

But dwelling on match ups? That's the talk of a title contender, at least in September....

Sorry, meant the best in the east, not in the NBA!! Not many.strong frontcourts in the east.

Pierce was pretty huge for Brooklyn in the playoffs last year.  With his ability to score in the clutch he's always dangerous come playoff time.

Cleveland doesnt scare me much.  LeBron is basically the only guy on that team tgat knows what the playoffs is.  Love cant play defense to save his life.  Varejao is a shadow of his former self.  They have no shooting guard.

They'll be a solid playoff team, but lebron scared me more in Miami then he does in Cleveland.

I think we will surprise some people this year.   I think the Celtics will be a borderline playoff team.   Aside from Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, Washington...I don't think there is a single team in the east that is clearly far superior to the Celtics.

I think the Celtics could just as easily land 12th or 6th considering the weakness of the eastern conference.

I think if Rondo returns to form, a starting backcourt of he and Bradley is a one of the top in the east.

I also think that after Carmello and LeBron, Jeff Green is about as good as any other Sf in the east.

Up front we will lack defense, but statistically the Sully/Olynyk front court combo has been one of the top in the league in terms of on/off stats.  They arent star talents, but they do a lot of the small things that make them hard to deal with.

I also think Bostons bench of Smart, Thornton,  Turner, Bass and Zeller is one of the strongest second units in the east.

I don't think Boston is going to be a great team,  but I think they'll be a solid one which will surprise me than a few people.

I don't think it will matter, I do not see us going far.  I just do not see us have reliable scoring.

agreed.

having said that, if this team exceeded all expectations and actually made the playoffs, I would just be happy we get to see some more games this year regardless of who we meet in the playoffs.  I don't think there's a snowballs' chance in hell of it happening but if it did, I wouldn't care who we played.

I'd like to believe the Pistons can surprise a few clubs this year. their front court will obliterate ours. They actually have some shooters this year as well. I except them a for sure playoff team this year
