or team(s).
My list is
-Cavs. Lebron is Lebron and i don't think the guy has been eliminated in the first round in the last.... years
-Bulls. If Rose is really back 100 percent, this is a team nobody in the nba will want to face. Gasol, Noah, Gibson makeup a pretty tough looking frontcourt trio. Butler is underrated and a heck of a defender. Mcbuckets and Mirotic shouldn't be taken lightly and could really stretch out the floor.
Outside of these two teams, no other teams would really scare me.
triboy, I tend to sway away every now and then from CBlog and don't study every prominent poster's tendencies, but I know you think Olynyk's great and Rondo needs to go. I never took you for a guy that thought the current group as assembled would be some 50+ win team. Are you?
I'm a Pollyanna, I think. I look at our roster and think we have at least mediocrity at the 1-4 spots, and could maybe piecemeal some center situation or maybe a trade at the deadline where we could get a legit 5 and punch somebody in the mouth in the playoffs.
But dwelling on match ups? That's the talk of a title contender, at least in September....
I think we will surprise some people this year. I think the Celtics will be a borderline playoff team. Aside from Miami, Cleveland, Chicago, Washington...I don't think there is a single team in the east that is clearly far superior to the Celtics.
I think the Celtics could just as easily land 12th or 6th considering the weakness of the eastern conference.
I think if Rondo returns to form, a starting backcourt of he and Bradley is a one of the top in the east.
I also think that after Carmello and LeBron, Jeff Green is about as good as any other Sf in the east.
Up front we will lack defense, but statistically the Sully/Olynyk front court combo has been one of the top in the league in terms of on/off stats. They arent star talents, but they do a lot of the small things that make them hard to deal with.
I also think Bostons bench of Smart, Thornton, Turner, Bass and Zeller is one of the strongest second units in the east.
I don't think Boston is going to be a great team, but I think they'll be a solid one which will surprise me than a few people.
