Just keep in mind that he can't be traded with another player for some reason, per my experience on espn's nba trade machine.  Does anyone know why?

Just have to wait 30 days from the day he was traded to include other players, part of the cba.

He was traded July 10.  The restriction on aggregating his salary with other players in a traded lasts two months (until September 10).

He won't have the minutes to play, unless the Celtics decide to completely bench Young.  The guard rotation of Rondo/Bradley/Smart/Turner/Pressey/Young/Thornton means at least two of those players are going to see very infrequent minutes.

Young won't turn 20 until 2 months before the 2015 season starts.  Pressey isn't going to play at all unless Rondo or Smart are hurt.  Turner will probably see most of his minutes backing up Green at the three.  The rotation is going to likely be Rondo/Smart at the 1, Bradley/Thornton at the 2 and the question is how much will they want to play Smart with Rondo or play with 3 guards.

If the problem wasn't we are packed full of guards, I wouldn't see any problem... in fact, I like Thornton and feel he is underrated. I don't want him traded but I can see his team wanting him to be so that he gets ample playing time, no way he will be happy with less than 20m/per. He is still a young guy and he can get hot on any given day and score with the best of them, against the best defenders. Thornton instead of Jet or even Lee 2 seasons ago would have been nice. I think he played well for Nets especially not starting the season there and being a guy who just had to get in where you fit on a team like that.

I really hate that teams like the Kings have the chance to get solid players and ruin them. Cousins has to sit there rotting away. I'm not saying Thornton is anywhere near Cousin's level, I'm saying the Kings are trash, good players are wasted and don't have the chance to experience any level of winning so the players get use to losing and develop bad habits.

I understand all teams go through those periods of losing too but got dang, imagine Cousins experiencing the feeling of winning at the highest level, that's a motivator... it's like a drug, he would want to experience that high over and over which would (hopefully) inspire him to work harder (unless you're Shaq LOL)! Guys like Thornton, Cousins, and Evans probably just need to find their way to a good team and go from there... even if they played the usual way they do, it would mean more on a better team. Love can play the way he does without being a better defender and it's going to mean so much more to the Cavs than it did for the Wolves since he doesn't have to be the biggest contributor, many people will be able to step up for him when he doesn't have it going.

Just as an aside, his name is ThorNton. I didn't know until the trade either, LOL I just spelled it how I heard it until I saw it in many places and when I couldn't find info on him when I spelled it Thorton.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I could see Thornton getting mins at 3 too but it won't be against the better SF LOL. Just as an offensive punch.

The people who will be hurting for mins will definitely be Pressey and Young if no changes are made, both may see time in Maine but I can see us doing what we have in years past, keep them up there to practice with the better players and see very little time with the Red Claws. While I love Lil Press, I really want to see Young get a few mins to step into the fire and show if he is solid enough to earn more mins at the 3 or if we have to only keep him as a 2. I mean, this season isn't make or break for him but I want to see if he can at least not look lost and that he really worked on the things we wanted him to (too darn long and gifted to not be a better defender).
