I am trying to make this a no spin poll.  I don't have a secret agenda or anything.  My opinion is that I suspect Rondo does prefer to be traded and that this message has been conveyed to the Celtics in a vey subtle and non-direct way but nothing that would constitute a trade demand.

That is my opinion though but I like data.  I know this is similar to and earlier poll but is focused on Rondo, not JM and the alleged leak.

Maybe you should add a 5th option:

5. Rondo wants to play this season with the Celtics, and is open to resigning if 1. they acquire a big piece or two around him to compete now or 2. the youngsters gel so well under his leadership that he enjoys his role.

I don't think Rondo knows what he wants to do yet. He gets what it is to be a Celtic and, I think, is taking a wait and see attitude.

How big a contract the team will offer to Rondo plays a bigger factor than whether the team is going to compete next season, in my opinion.

None of the above.

This isn't rocket science. Rondo is a winner. He wants to win. He also knows there's not much longer where he can win while also being a big contributor in winning. He just experienced a major injury and is at the apex of his career right now at 28 years of age.

He's not going to demand anything this season. If Boston can make some big splashes and become a contender, he stays. If Boston can't, and/or trades him midseason, next summer the Knicks, who have shown great interest in Rondo already, have Melo, cap space, plenty of nationally televised games, and a big fashion industry.

Rondo wants to stay and wants the team to build winner in near future (next year or two).

I pick this option.

SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I kind of agree with this.

In order of descending likelihood
1) Wants to play for a contender in Boston on a max deal
2) Wants to play for a contender on a large deal
3) Wants to play in Boston on a max deal

This sounds about right.

I also think he's communicated this to the front office.

So you're saying that if he could play on a contender he'd rather do it somewhere else than in Boston?

A lot of responses are none of the above because Rondo wants to have the Celtics build a contender around him.  But that is exactly option 1 of the poll.  The Celtics are not currently anything close to being a contender.  So there is going to need to be a rebuild.  It could happen with one big trade tomorrow or more likely, it is going to take a series of moves over a period of time.  If you think that is Rondo's first choice, then so be it, Rondo wants to stay in Boston and is willing to be part of a short term or longer term rebuild and he is willing to accept the risk that it could be a long rebuild.

I believe Rajon Rondo wants to stay in BOS and be that same bridge player that Paul Pierce was.

Once the season starts, us and the NBA will be reminded once again of how good Rajon REALLY is. We'll see how hard he's worked to get back from his injury.

Rondo wants to be a part of the Three-Headed Monster called Rondo-AB-Smart - one that will form the best perimeter defense in the League.

He's seen Paul do it - be that Leader....he's learned from him, KG and Ray.

Now he wants to prove himself and succeed here in BOS.

And I believe he will.
