Getting Young instead of Bennett is a dumb move from Minnesota.
Yeah I think so too.

Why?????  Young is 26 years old and had almost a 17 Efficiency Rating last year!!!  Bennett stunk up the court.

His demise has been extremely exaggerated

You have to be good to have a demise.  I don't think he qualifies in that regard.   Demise means death.  In basketball terms he has not had a life thus far.

Also, when he got playing time from February on he improved substantially.

I call BS on this one.   4 PPG  were his stats at the end of year on .36% shooting.   This is not a opinion, these are stats derived from here.

If that is much improved, I hate to see your version of little improved.   Maybe lay off the Budweiser?

Other than since February he shot about 46% from the floor, compared to the 25% for his first month... I'd say that's a SUBSTANTIAL improvement.

So there's no BS to accuse of, all this info is readily available even if you didn't bother to watch some of the games late in the year (which I'm not exhorting you to).

I'm good with my Budweisers, should I send some your way to see if it motivates you to do a bit of your research?

Because Young is a 1 year rental, and Bennett is on a rookie deal which Minnesota could've controlled for the next 4+ years.

So Young really doesn't present much value to a team like Minnesota who are very far from being a contender right now.

Why should I believe this any more than the report before it that said 76ers not involved or the one before that which said the 76ers are involved?

I am not sure I really care either way I guess.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement in principle to trade Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers for No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett and a protected 2015 first-round draft pick, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.

ESPN has no mention of Young being involved.  I guess that could be a totally separate deal.  Are there other reports that Young is involved?

I still feel bad for Thaddeus Young, but at least he's not in Philly anymore.

Like going from prison to hell.

I don't know; at least the Twolves are trying to win.

If you've been in the league for more than a couple years I don't know how you could stand being in Philly right now.  The tanking is so blatant.  You'd have to have a long view of things.

And that's assuming the management there wouldn't just want to trade you anyways because of their strategy.  Which I bet they would.

I don't think you should assume Minnesota has a long view and wants to be a contender.  They seem to just want to be somewhere in the Playoff mix right now.

Which you have to be good to do in the West.  But I don't think they have a championship or bust mindset.

I understand that, but Minny might actually contend for the playoffs as I think they have actually improved themselves a little with these trades.  Not a contender of a title, but they might REALLY be a contender NOW for the playoffs, even in the tough Western Conference.

Which is why it would be a dumb move if Bennett was an option to go after Young. Young is good but not to the point that it changes that team, from the past season, all the much. They won't be on the playoff mix, they'll be as far if not farther next season.

So choosing Young over Bennett is a waste, and completely misguided if they have plans of a playoff run this season. It won't happen, chances are completely slim... they'll be praying for multiple injuries for other teams.

Minnesota won't be in the playoffs unless quite a few teams get the injury bug, all of these are substantially better teams:

Spurs
Thunder
Clippers
Houston
Portland
Golden State
Memphis
Dallas
New Orleans
Nuggets

And then you have the Suns who have some uncertainty on the roster currently, but once that's clarified they should be better.

Minnesota will be a bottom 3 team in the West next season without a doubt, except if multiple teams have injuries.

Shouldn't we just wait and see what is actually traded before we debate the fit of the pieces.

LOL

I do think this benefits both teams. Philly gets worse (this year) while taking on another project/gamble. Minny gets a solid PF to replace Love and a lineup of Rubio, Martin, Wiggins, Young, and pekovic would be exciting and more defensive minded than when Love was there. Even do Martin off the bench and go Rubio, WIggins, Brewer.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.
