Well, it's not like our wing depth set the bar any higher than the ground last year.  He can't be worse defensively than Bayless, and he can't be worse offensively than Wallace.

No-one can be worse offensively than Wallace was for us last year.

30?   He's not going to be the primary ball handler here, as opposed to his play in that clip.  I just wouldn't get my hopes up, if I were you.

Some good points and thoughts put out there so I'm going to try not to duplicate ideas and didn't want to multiple quote.
In the end a good signing.  I'm not worried about him fighting with hibbert or stephenson both those guys need a head straightening jab.  If he is signed to be our starting sf (jeff green going out) i'm a bit worried.  If he is here to be greens backup great signing.  Sidenote if wallace isn't moved and becomes 3rd string he'll without a doubt go BOGANS on us.  His mouth is already too big for the quality of play.
I'm fine with ainge getting assets for a bigger trade..anyone but rondo can go, he is our only top notch player with green just behind and "developers" bradley, sully, ko, smart and yes I said it Zeller!
its a good affordable signing. turner is better than bayless and courtney lee (who i liked!) , big upside, very little downside to the signing

That's what I'm thinking ttoo. He'll maximize every tradeable piece leading up to deadline and make a serious move

I'll pretend I'm Danny for a minute (because that's fun to think about).  We currently have 14 players with guaranteed contracts.  You can have 15 players on the roster.  Right now our ostensible 15th player is Chris Johnson, a wing like Turner.  Turner is unequivocally better.  Ergo, our team should improve.  He costs more, but as long as he signs for less than about $5.2 million, and he will, we will remain under the luxury tax.  So he doesn't cost too much from various salary limitations.

As a 2/3 who's 6'7" and can handle the ball, he offers a lot of versatility.  He can be a secondary ball handler in large lineups, playing along side Green and a point guard, similar to some lineups with Gerald and Jeff that were run last year.  He can also play the 3 in more traditional lineups.

He'll have to earn his minutes, but that's a good thing for both him and the team as a whole.  The more depth and versatility you have, the more minutes go to players who are working on improving, and the more the team can adapt from night-to-night in a long season.  Injuries happen too.  Last year we started out with too many shooting guards.  By February, we'd had to add two from the D-League.  Minutes will sort themselves out.

Trading for Josh Smith, playing him at SF, and giving him the green light to take all the jumpers he wants can be worse.

I've said I'd be okay with a one-year deal that makes him a tradeable asset.  I'd prefer a contract size that fits into one of the trade exceptions owned by some likely playoff teams, with a possible team option or an unguaranteed second year.

I'd hate this if it means trading Green for a player I don't like.  I would not be enthusiastic about a sign-and-trade for Greg Monroe and his matador defense, for example, especially if the Celtics have to give up picks as part of the deal. 

My ideal Green replacement would be a guy who can play point forward and be an upgrade on three-point shooting while providing solid defense.  Turner can do the first, but not the latter two.

With the drafting of Marcus Smart and signing of Evan Turner, the Celtics have quickly added 2 ball handling, shot creators with a lot of upside.

Last year at any given time our second best ball handling, shot creator was either Gerald Wallace or Phil Pressey.

This is a nice upgrade in an area of need.
