this is likely going to result in one or two more moves.  No way this lineup can stay like this. Just way too congested at the SF/SG/PG positions

Are we?  We have nine players for those three positions.  There are 5 positions, and 15 players on a roster, so that's 3 per position.  I'd say we're no more crowded there than the frontcourt.

The issue with the roster is there isn't a lot of top-tier talent, so the starters and reserves are closer to each other, thus creating the appearance of a crowded roster.  On a better team, a few of these guys would have no chance at minutes, and so the hierarchy would be clearer.

This signing was kind of unexpected. Just waiting for the other shoe to finally drop on a larger deal Ainge has lined up.
There's no larger deal. Didn't you read Wyc's comments from yesterday evening?

Yes. I'm not talking about a Love type trade. Somebody is getting traded though. My guess is Uncle Jeff.

You guys realize people get injured right? We hope our team can be healthy all season but let's be honest, injuries happen throughout the season. If a guard or Wallace/Green get injured, Turner could log in those minutes and contribute in their place.

I really hope Danny has a plan in place.  There is a lot of question marks right now.

Monroe is a center who is not very good defensively.

I don't get the hate on Monroe.  He just turned 24.  To say he's not very good at something is a little overblown.  Does he not block shots ?  Not really.  Blocking shots doesn't mean you're not very good defensively.  The game is far more than blocking shots at the Center position.  Sure, having an intimidator in there would be nice, but again, doesn't mean he's weak defensively.

For me, he's a rising star and still developing his game.  He thrives around the rim and provides solid rebounding from the Center position.
There are centers that don't block shots who are very good defensively (see Omer Asik). Monroe is not very good by just about any metric, raw or advanced.

In terms of rebounding, he's very similar to Zeller. In fact, given that we have Zeller, Monroe is probably redundant.

I love you guys, crying a river about not geting ED DAVIS... we land Evan Turner and suddenly it's the worst move possible.

Absurd is the word I'm looking for.

Wait, you think that Wallace will actually get minutes?

This team has a lot of pieces.  Gotta hand it to Ainge on his ability to bring in assets... now we just have to wait and see when a significant player becomes available on the trade market.

Turner is a SF, right?

Are people already envisioning a Greg Monroe sign-and-trade utilizing Jeff Green?   I'm not sure how I'd feel about that, though... Monroe isnt' really a center, is he?

No, he's not.

Is he that much smaller then Noah or big al?

Both of them were nba all team centers.

He's more a center than Big Al, less than Noah. Idk if that helps. He shoots less than 50% and blocks less than a shot per game.

Wrong!  He shot .497 (which rounded is 50%) from the field last year and slightly over 50% for his career.  He doesn't block shots but he averages 9 RPG and 15 PPG.  He's a very solid low post player but isn't a rim protector really.  I don't think you get him for Green though plus he wants big bucks (12 million or more per year).   Maybe he won't get it...

Turner off the bench is pretty decent....

Rondo/Smart
Bradley/Turner

Solid guard rotation.  If we get a C, we might actually make the playoffs.

And Thornton? I see Turner put more behind Green. (Or maybe Danny has a taker for Green?)

Possibly. Maybe this is the first shoe to drop. Hopefully we see more moves coming. We have so many decent assets/players but the fit is turrible.

Not that Danny wouldn't cut his own mom's throat, but Turner is buddy's with Sullinger so I think this increase the odds of keeping Sullinger, A LITTLE.

I agree and also think we are shy a truly solid, starting NBA quality big man who can defend and play down low on offense. If you had that, you do already have two power forwards, decent depth at wing, a couple guys who can play shooting guard and Rondo and Smart. It's a pretty good fit with the actual center( Zeller would be back up to mystery center who doesn't exist).

You add Love to this team without losing significant depth, which is impossible, and you have a 60 win team right now. But it's just a painful fantasy...we can't get there from here in a straight line.

I'd rather have the Turner asset than not have the Turner asset.

This is a 25-35 win team...  the more pieces we have the more likely we can make a trade down the line.

I don't think this suggests there is another shoe to drop.   Someone list our players... pretty sure there are at least 3 that will not make it onto the team.

They've cried over each and every move since they didn't get Davis, Melo, LeBron, etc.

*Danny started the offseason with two picks (6 & 17) and a $10m TPE.

*Danny so far has picked well (Smart & Young), got a $4.5m ish (TPE), Zeller, Turner and a 1st.

I mean, that's darn good work right there.  Yet all we get is sob after sob.

I am happy with the move.    We have a ton of guards though, but ET has always played well against us.  But why the resign Bradley and then ET?  Is someone on the move?   Also, what will happen to Jeff Green?

ET might be our sixth man?  He is versatile.

Ed Davis and Evan Turner are both on teams with rosters that would suggest they are actively avoiding championship contention.

Coincidence?

Yes, the 60-win part is definitely a painful fantasy. Is one season enough for folks to forget what it takes to win 60 games?
