Deron Williams strikes me as another Ray Allen type.

Older player, ankle issues but has had surgery this summer.

If Jackie M's reports about Rondo wanting max deal are accurate, maybe DA considers this and maybe Brooklyn moves on from Deron and gives Rondo a shot.

Plus Rondo and KG are former teammates.

For the Celts, they get a new player to build around.

Maybe make it even more interesting like Rondo, Jeff Green and Brandon Bass for DWill, Andray Blatche (S/T) and Andre Kirilenko.

You don't build around an aging PG that clearly has lost whatever motivation/ability to play.

And why trade for Deron Williams, when we possibly got someone just like him for a younger price, and is a better defender than D-Will?

I think D-Will was a great PG, and definitely was on the cusp of being 1B to 1A of CP3.

Unfortunately, I also think Sloan's system/offensive metrics is a big key for why D-Will was so successful. Now if the Nets want to trade us Lopez/Williams for some cap relief/some of their picks back. I wouldn't mind doing that.

A lineup of Rondo, Williams, Lopez could be interesting.

Not a bad idea.

By the way, DWill is only 30 yrs old and is just 2 years older than Rondo.

When the Celts acquired Ray Allen and KG in 2007, they were both 32 and 31 respectively.

Jus' saying.

That would be so depressing if it actually happened. Thank God there is zero chance of it.

Bear in mind, Deron had successful ankle surgery this summer and will be ready for training camp.

The difference is that Allen the year before he got traded to the Celtics, was averaging 26.4 and was shown to be a dominant force offensively.

Williams is having one of his worse career seasons with the exception of his rookie year, and didn't even eclipse past 15 PPG. He was a huge reason for why they flunked in the playoffs, as he looked a step slow, hesitant, and was terrible defensively letting Chalmers blow him constantly. There were times where Kidd instructed Shaun to guard Chalmers exclusively and switch immediately on pick and rolls.

If we did something like this, we might as go for J-Smoove.

Rondo
D-Will
(Whoever)
Josh Smith
Brook Lopez

Interesting team, I guess?

I just don't think you'll get much for Bass, Wallace and a pick.

Maybe Derrick Williams instead (lol)

In 2007, I think Delonte/Wally/the no 5 pick was a more enticing offer.

But, you could be right.

But how is this the Ray Allen trade if we're getting rid of Rondo? Rondo is like our Paul Pierce, the Captain, and the disgruntled Allstar looking to contend.

Bad contract, bad attitude, lost a step...  No thanks.

Plus, if he's the Ray Allen, who is the Paul Pierce?
