Nope. Not paying Williams 20mill a year for the next 3. He averaged last season, 14ppg 6apg 3rpg. Rondo adds more to the team with 12ppg 10apg and 5rpg. And that's coming off of an ACL in limited minutes.
Plus if we have a PG change it's Rondo out for a SF or C, and Smart take over. I could see Smart getting close to Williams numbers, and would be 17M less a season.
DA was right though. Looking at teams, very few need a PG. It's going to be hard to move Rondo for good value. I think people are going to have to accept we might get some contract players and picks. That would be worst case of course, but when Huston,Indy,Sac,LA are the teams that could really use Rondo, they don't have much to give up for him.
