An absolutely perfect comparison of James Young that I heard on ESPN Radio is Mo Pete. I think it fits him perfectly.

Marcus Smart - Vinnie Johnson
James Young - Alex English

:o  You're comparing him to the guy who scored the most points in the NBA during the 80s?  Wow.  Why?

Beefy combo guard.

Although Smart is beefier.

And Vinnie only averaged 12 points a game.

You'd probably be safer comparing him to Rodney Stuckey.

Marcus smart - --  MJ
James Young -  --  Bird
Rondo - --     Magic

I don't see why we don't win the next 6 titles, unless Marcus retires after 3.

James Young is white? No he is clear!!

Alex English was 6'7" 190.  I was commenting on your comparison of James Young to him, not Marcus Smart to the former Nugget.  I apologize if I wasn't clear about that.

They have a very similar game.

As I said in another thread, if everything goes perfect for Smart he could be a Dennis Johnson type.

Both of them-

good sized combo cards
like to post up, a rarity for guards
good defenders
tenacious competitors
poor shooters…
but know how to score

Until we see them play in the NBA it is silly.

I think Marcus Smart plays like Smart and James Young like Young.

This, one million times.

I said this recently too in a thread!  I think it's a good comp for Smart.  If he can ever get to DJ's level this will be a great find.
