Looks like another Jordan Crawford, which is nice to have:

Its an ok comparison, but Thornton's significantly older than Crawford, and isn't nearly as good of a passer.

source: I watch a lot of Kings games... because I have deep seeded emotional problems.

How old do you think Thornton is?

He is 27

He was the x factor in the raps vs nets series. Streaky but when he is on he doesnt miss many shots. Decent addition to the bench

I don't know anything about Thornton, but I'm glad to find out that he's probably more than just dead weight.

Three assets for free is sweet, and recall that we traded Crawford last season for a future conditional first rounder/two second rounders.

We could end up trading this guy at the deadline for an asset, even if just a second rounder.

Yes, he is. He's also little more than an expiring contract for us. What's your point -- assuming there is one beyond demonstrating some serious tunnel vision?

TP for the clip. Fun to watch him go off.

That said, I expect little to nothing out of this guy as a Celtic so it's all upside. Maybe a 'pseudo' contender comes after him if he's playing well?

LOL yeah I got really hung up on your comment that he is significantly older than crawford. I cant claim to have watched many Thornton games, but from what you have seen, you dont think he has as much value on the trade market as Crawford did?

No, because he's older and can't run an offense. My comp would probably hover around "he's a slashing Nick Young."

Yes he is 2 years older.

I think a slashing Nick Young who can average 18-21 ppg when he has been given starter minutes and shoots the 3 ball at 36% for his career is as valuable as Crawford. While JC may be able to distribute the ball a bit, he is extremely inefficient.

Either way, the real ceiling for these guys are bench contributors on really good teams or starters on terrible ones. Their value is pretty similar in my opinion, but I can see your points.

Agreed and likewise.

I think while in this rebuidling phase we'll flip him f0r a draft pick with his expiring. C0ntract .. With 0ur current r0ster I d0n think well giv him significant PT t0 sl0w d0wn 0ur y0ung guard devel0pment. If we pick up s0me stars he might be w0rth keeping 0r if we get t0 the p0int were fightin f0r a play0ff sp0t

The Celtics are not getting a draft pick for Thornton. He cost the Cavs a pick in order for the Celtics to absorb his contract. The Nets got him last year for whatever was left of Jason Terry.

Thornton is just an expiring contract to use as filler in a bigger trade. Until then, he will give the C's 15 minutes of offense each night, and eventually be paid half of his current contract by someone else next year.
