Per @NBA: Salary cap for 2014-15 season jumps to $63.065 million. Tax level is $76.829 million. Minimum team salary is $56.759 million

What it means for the Celtics:

After today's trade, the Celtics are at $79.7 million for next season (assuming a 120% draft slot salary for James Young and Marcus Smart, which is standard operating procedure for the C's).  This also assumes that Bradley is being paid $8 mil each year, but he may have raises or decreases from year-to-year.  So they are over the tax.

However, they have $8 million in non-guaranteed salaries (Bogans, Pressey, Johnson, and Babb), so it will not be difficult to get under the luxury tax line.  Pressey becomes guaranteed July 15th, so a decision about him must be made soon.

The hard cap is $80.8 million, so if the Celtics wish to use either the $5.3 million MLE or the $2.1 million BAE, they will need to shed salary before using either.  The same applies for a sign-and-trade.

Unless someone like Love comes to Boston, I can't see Ainge using either this offseason.

Max salaries are also derived from the salary cap.  I have estimated them to be the following:

Fewer than 5 years of experience (Gordon Hayward, Eric Bledsoe, Greg Monroe, and Lance Stephenson): $14.76 million in year 1, $63.04 million for a four year deal with another team.  (So everyone had a very good estimate when Hayward's deal was annoucned yesterday at $63 million).

5-9 years of experience (no max-level free agents out there in this range, but Rondo, Love, and Aldridge next year): $17.7 million in year 1, $75.64 million for a four-year deal with another team.

10+ years of experience (LeBron, Bosh): $20.7 million in year 1, $88.25 million for a four-year deal with another team, or $118.84 million for a five-year deal with the Heat.

(Note: Carmelo Anthony exceeds this maximum salary, since he made more than this last year.  His max is 105% of his salary last year).

A typical Ainge move would be to sign Colton Iverson or a guy off the summer league roster for more the minimum using part of the MLE, in exchange for having extra unguaranteed years.  He also signed Faverani using part of the MLE last season and could sign another overseas guy again.  He's spent enough time scouting in Europe that he may have come up with a few under-the-radar targets again.

Thanks +1 was wondering where we stood.  Pretty gloomy free agent wise, I suppose.
