Rondo and Avery developed their shots
There has been no material improvement in Rondo and Bradley's shooting over the course of their careers so far (at least where the long ball is concerned). It's a nice tall tale, though.

I noticed he can hit it some from the left elbow extended at the three point line.  I saw him hit one and one get blown off because of a foul off the ball there, yesterday.

It is early, he is just transitioning to the pro range.  I do not know if he will ever be a "pure" shooter though.   I think he is a better shooter but worse finisher than Rondo.

And Rondo's finishing ability wasn't that great the first couple years. Like you, i see enough to work with. After 2 years we will have a much better idea who Marcus Smart will really become.

There has been no material difference in Rondo and Bradley's shooting over the course of their careers so far (at least where the long ball is concerned). It's a nice tall tale, though.

True. The improvement has been marginal so far. Rondo is what he is. Bradley had a nice shooting year last year. This year we see if he sustains it, or just continues to be a hot and cold shooter for months at a time.

It's the summer league, nothing counts. All Smart has to do is keep shooting and he will find his groove. I'd much rather he goes 2-15 than go 0-3 and get minimal experience. It usually happens to players in their first few games of the pre-season, I'd much rather he go 2-15 in the summer league and then potentially go 10-15 in a reg. season game than have him start the season averaging 2-15 FG's per game.

I thought Bradley's 3 pt FG% improved a lot last season?  Am I wrong?

You're not.  He is wrong.

Also wrong about Rondo, who hasn't improved his shooting as broadly but has become a legitimately good shooter from the elbow area.

Rondo shot ~45% on 2-pointers outside 10 feet in his second year, and is yet to beat this mark.

Bradley has been a .400 shooter on shots outside 16 feet for most of his career. He shot .407 from three in his second season, so I'm not sure how last year was any sort of improvement.

The "improvement" story is largely anecdotal. Sure, it may happen, but it's nowhere close to a foregone conclusion that shooting ability is bound to improve over a player's career.

I am.

But I wasn't high on him before the draft either.

Bradley has extended his range and is now a legitimate three-point threat from above the break and not just the corners.

Might as well get started early with Smart, and get him a shooting specialist teacher to shadow him all summer.

Ron Adams!

Oh, wait...

I thought his shot selection has been ok these last two games, it was the result that has been ugly. He took one bad 3 but that was due to no time on the shot clock. His drives to the hoop have also been good but he has gotten stuffed.

He needs to get used to the quickness of shot blockers in the NBA game and I think he will. At this early stage he may be overcompensating for closeouts on some shots and under on others.

I have been very impressed with his court vision. He has made great passes and ran the point very well given what he has around him to work with. So far I am happy with the pick..

Anyone watch Gordon play?

His shot isn't good, but I definitely think it's mechanically better than Rondo's and he shoots it much more fluid and confidently than Rondo. Remember, Russell Westbrook shot .271 and .221 from 3 his first two years in the league.

Oh.. also, Wade shot .171 from 3 the year they won the championship...  :o
