Anyone who thinks Smart is doomed for his bad shooting % these last few days should take a look at MCW's box score from last year.

http://www.nba.com/summerleague/2013/players/sl_michael_carter-williams/index.html

Honestly though his shot will come along. As long as he plays hard defense he'll get minutes and improve game by game this year.

Ugh, watching Gordon and Payton on the Magic summer team really frustrates me. Payton has that burst and when Gordon skies for a rebound it's HIS rebound. I wish we could have gotten one or both of these guys...

Why? I'm satisfied with Smart and Young and I like Gordon.

Because speed/athleticism = higher ceiling.

And.. Gordon just made a jumper.

Seriously is not the end of the world. Smart is an excellent player is own right. Just because he had a bad game. Doesn't mean he should be condemned.

Smart and Pressey =  potential disaster result when you play Rondo and Smart together also

The pacers just dared both Pressey and Smart to shoot and they couldn't buy a bucket all night.

Agreed... can't read too much into summer league.  Joe Forte won MVP one year... and Marcus Banks once dropped 42 points ((13-19 FG), 80% from long range (4-5 3FG) and 86% from the charity stripe (12-14 FT))... Smart, like Banks, might end up having a humbling season... we'll see how he reacts.  Maybe in a couple years he will drop 42 points in summerleague too.

Did anyone watch the full broadcast of the game?  Someone on twitter mentioned that Isiah told a story about how he was talking to Larry Bird today and Bird ignored Ainge when he walked by.

Wondering if anyone has a better recounting of what Isiah said.

I didn't condemn Smart. I liked the Smart pick but felt Payton had equal or greater potential as a prospect. Since the Sixers, Magic, and Celtics all had early picks and one in the teens, it would have been nice if we had gotten two top-level prospects instead of one and a half. However, I know it probably wasn't possible because Gordon had separated himself from the 6-7-8 range and Payton had elevated his stock way past 17.

The Celtics did the best with what they had but if the lottery balls had bounced differently or if some player had dropped just one pick later it could have made a huge difference in the talent haul.

It was brought up in reference to Lance Stephenson, and whoever Isiah's cohost was said Ainge was making a run at LS, then Thomas said "I was talking to Bird before the game, and Danny Ainge walked by and they didn't say a word to each other"
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Sounds like a non story

They came back from commercial to a Stephenson clip package and the announcer said ESPN reported the Celtics "have an interest" in Stephenson. Thomas joked that well he was talking to Larry before the game and Ainge walked past and he "noticed they didn't speak to each other. Now I know why," after which both Thomas and the announcer had a good laugh. Thomas went on to joke that "All is fair in love and war, and this is war."

Then the cameraman got a shot of both Ainge and Bird in the stands and the announcer said they were sitting 15-20 feet apart, then wondered "How many secrets are in this room right now in terms of negotiations and discussions." Thomas then said "everybody's plotting to get each other's players."

They were clearly joking but if the report is true you would think maybe there is some awkwardness there between both GMs during this particular free agent period. I'm sure they're used to it though since both are long time GMs who probably see each other around all the time.

Aaron Gordon has length which smart doesn't.  I like smart but really wanted Gordon only because it would quickly move sleepy mcgee aka Jeff green out the door.  That said I think smart will be just as if not more valuable to us.

Huh? Smart has length as well, he's one of the lengthiest guards in the draft.

Thanks Guys.  Makes sense.

I thought he said " All is fair in love and war, and the Celtics and Pacers are at war"

But close enough.

Horrible game, for everyone. Olynyk was as bad today as he was good Saturday. dropping the ball, throwing it away. everybody just looked flat.
sort of surprised because with the players that Boston has on the floor for this Summer League you would think they'd have somewhat of an edge.
most depressing was they came out strong, had an 18 point lead in the first quarter and it just went to crap from there.
