If reports are true that Lebron may be going back they will still look to clear a salary or two. Offer a future first for Waiters.. There already is a cluster at the 2 or 3 (if Lebron signs)... another possible buy low opportunity and DA was sniffing around Waiters value last year... no brainer even though the Celtics have a cluster of guards. Build a team with the best players and not on need (maybe Hibbert avail too)..

its a game of chess... build your team, if you have to trade then you have value.. Id rather have a a guard who can play rather than overpaying a big man who cant..

Cleveland will keep Waiters, if they are trading Wiggins for Love they will need a starting SG

I actually think Waiters would be an attractive piece for the Cavs if they can add Lebron. I could see a rotation where Irving, Wiggins, Lebron, Thompson, Varejo stars and Waiters and Zeller are the bench. I would expect Bennet and Thompson to be moved for vets particularly a starting stretch 4 (Frye could be a good achievable fit). If Wiggins can play to his strengths as a rookie and give them elite level perimeter D and hit open shots that team will be scary. Waiters would fit in well as the backup 2/1 as well as playing aling side Irving in an Irving, Waiters, Wiggins, Lebron, stretch 4 small ball lineup.

Makes zero sense, we already have a plethora of guards.

true, but Waiters would have been the best pure scorer on the Celtics last year.  Something the team desperately needs (which is why I think they drafted Smart).

As for the thread, the Cavs aren't moving Waiters for a draft pick.  They want to move their junk contracts (i.e. Jack) to clear cap space and save the young "prospects" for bigger trades to acquire veterans.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

If the Celtics wanted a player like Dion Waiters, they could have just kept MarShon Brooks.

He is a mediocre pro thus far, the big East bias is ridiculous at times, here.  That simply shows how abyssmal our team is that his 15 PPG would lead us in scoring.   I 'd rather have AB than him because he plays on both ends and it is one less PPG.   Waiters can match him on D.

I'm tempted to want to stay away from any Syracuse guy on principle.

Lol, too many posts for me to give a TP to in here so far. Yeah. Pass on Waiters. No need for us to help LeBron go wherever he wants in my opinion. There's nothing we have that the Cavs could want regardless of it being used to entice LeBron or not.
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

Trade Rondo for a big, start Smart and Bradley until Young is ready.
