Granted, talking about Bob Cousy, but still seems to fit.

One of the best drafts in the last two decades and you take Aaron Gordon with the 4th pick.
I would be furious too. I would've been furious if we took him with the 6th pick.

Just can't see him becoming a 20 ppg scorer but they must see something we are missing.

I'm pretty sure that Gordon's value projection isn't dependent on him becoming a 20 points scorer.   Not all great basketball players are 20 points scorers.   For that matter, not all 20 point scorers are great basketball players.  Isaiah Thomas was a 20 point scorer this year.  I like IT - he's an alum of my school.  But he's a loooong way from being a 'great' basketball player.

Gordon's probably going to be 'okay' offensively, just based on his ability to elevate at the rim, make shots at a decent percentage and general smart play, but I doubt anyone projects him to ever be a volume scorer.   He has the upside to be a dramatic game-changer on the defensive side of the ball though.   And that's why he was high on many draft boards.

I can't really blame the Orlando fans for their reaction.   All the pre-draft buzz had the Magic firmly locked on getting a guard.   I'm sure most of their fans had convinced themselves that either Exum or Smart would be the prize of the draft.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

It would be funny to find out latter that they took Gordon because they thought they had a trade lined up, to only have the team back out, which kinda would make sense.

Maybe Randle and Vonleh rubbed them the wrong way like they did with Boston. They aleady have a 2 guard, and got Payton for the PG.

So while they could have gotten Exum or Smart maybe there was something Gordon did during work outs that got their attention. Kinda like Young did for us.

Orlando plays after us on Sat. I'm defiantly going to check the game out to see why they snagged him at 4.
Anyone know why Vonleh slipped?  I saw some projecting him as high as 4 at one point.

I lost respect for Magic fans a long time ago.  Anyone remember that jackwagon Orlando fan who created that video in the 2010 playoffs about how our geriatric players were going to get owned?  They were so obnoxious about it.   I was so glad we beat them in 6.  Every time I see Magic fans, I think of that delusional little punk.

I thought Orlando fans were just like LA fans back then when Dwight was still in blue/white. But I hated the Magic because of what happened in 2009 and 2010. They thought they would take the series just because they won the regular season against us. Celtics went into Orlando the first two games and had the last laugh walking out. Could have swept the sweepers (Bobcats, Hawks), but they just got lucky in Game 4 that year.

rumor has it Vonleh quit on his team at Indiana. Another rumor is that Vonleh wants to play small forward.

I believe Ainge said there were character concerns about Vonleh.

Gordon is only a half inch shorter than Vonleh but way more athletic in game situations, and has a much higher bball iq.

And besides getting a superstar like Lebron, Melo, or KD, the next best thing to have is somebody that can contain those guys, which makes Gordon extremely valuable.

I heard some rumored stuff about why Vonleh slipped but with not knowing if true I won't spread them. I will say that the rumors I heard pointed to a few issues not just one.

I think he first quit on Indiana. And then he didn't interview well at the columbine. And then he had a bit of an attitude when he said that he wanted to play SF and was told he would be a PF in the NBA. Plus his BBIQ is pretty low from what they say. Thats not easy to build on by the time you get to this level. Look at McGee.

Of course this is all hear say. But when the C's taken on some guys with some character flaws, and passed on him should say some thing. But, the C's do have two very young promising hI BBIQ PF's to work with, so I have a feeling thats the real reason they went with Smart over Randle and Vonleh.

I think Aaron Gordon has a good chance of becoming a better NBA player than Dante Exum.  Time will tell.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I heard Vonleh slipped because of character concerns.

I don't know any specifics but I laughed when they asked Vonleh who he models his game after and he said Kevin Durant is his favorite player...something to that effect.  Nobody wants you to play small forward young blood.

Kind of as dumb as the time Ben Wallace old everyone the Celtics wanted him to play sg just because ML Carr said he needed to work on his outside shot.

I also wasn't impressed when he didnt speak enthusiastically about the C's like Napier did...you're from here! Napier gets it.

Vonleh is gonna end up as Jonathan Bender 2.0...big man that wants to jack 3's.  man I loved playing against those kind of guys because it makes defense so much easier.

The Magic have made it an objective ever since the D. Howard saga to get high character, team first players. That's why theres no surprise they took Gordon and Payton. I think they went too much into it though, Ginobili and Parker eren't exactly that when they entered the league, they were highly competitive and wanted to win though.

Surprised at all the Aaron Gordon jokes here.  Pre-draft polls on this site showed the plurality if not the majority wanted the Celtics to draft him if he was available at 6. I for one was very disappointed when he was taken at 4.  I am okay with Smart, certainly prefer him to Randle.  But if Gordon had not been grabbed early, would have expected Danny to take him there.
