I think the framework of a Rondo to Suns, Hibbert to Celtics, and Dragic to Pacers is the logical one. However, I think it has to be tweaked slightly for Indiana to do it and that would be to add Plumlee to Indiana and Mahinimi to Suns. Otherwise, Indiana would be completely naked at center and no longer an Eastern Conference Championship contender. Phoenix would now have Mahinimi, Len, and maybe Okafor again depending on price and medical evaluation. I am just wondering if Phoenix now says yes? I think Boston and Indiana would.
I would get it from the Boston perspective, but who would play center for the Pacers?

If we pawn Wallace off on someone, especially in a Rondo trade, its going to significantly worsen our return.

C's - Stephenson via S&T (probably look to add a pick or two from Indy as well)
Pacers - Dragic
Suns - Rondo

I actually like the versatility, size, and toughness that a 3 guard rotation of Smart, Stephenson, and Bradley can provide. Bradley and Stephenson are both only 23 and will only continue to improve. All 4 will be locked in for at least the next 4 years, so roughly 22m spent on all 3, which is reasonable especially when considering the max, or near max, deal Rondo will look to receive next summer.

I also think that the only reason Bird would bring Ainge in to the 3 team deal is because he knows he has, or has had, interest in Stephenson. Conversely, the Suns probably have none in him.
Can we get Nurkic in the deal from the suns...
Boston in: stephenson, nurkic, indy pick
Indy in: dragic
Suns in: rondo

No idea where else to put this:

@WojYahooNBA  1m
Teams and agents agree: Outside of role players now, the market is frozen until Miami's free agents and Carmelo Anthony make decisions.

another reason to hate these azz clowns! nobody can conduct business till they're done holding the league hostage.

...inmates running the asylum again.

Plumlee would be going to Indiana so he would be their center.

My apologies, Plumlee would go to Indiana and be their center.

I don't get why Phoenix wants Rondo?

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
We just signed Avery and just drafted Smart and Young. Why would we give up Rondo for  2gaurd?

Yeah this is what I was thinking. Doesn't make much sense since AB and Stephenson is roughly the same play, slight edge to Stephenson due to size and durability. But AB gets a bump because he will be cheaper from what Stephenson turned down.

I say send Rondo to PHX, Green,AB filler to Indy for a S&T for Paul Greorge! :P Never will happen, but this should be DA's price for helping.

I would take Stephenson in a heartbeat over Bradley(...isn't that a no-brainer?). but signing Bradley and getting Stephenson makes no sense.

I second that.

I think a Smart/Stevenson backcourt would be awesome.

I want a team with some attitude.

Btw, I liked your comment on the top free agents holding the league hostage, lol.

Phoenix wants Rondo because he is the best basketball player between Dragic and Hibbert and allows them to move Bledsoe to the 2 or s/t for a conventional 2. Note that they already have had success playing two point guards at the same time. The Celtics would move Rondo for Hibbert because we have nobody serious at the 5 and we tanked a whole season away and drafted a point guard that they believe is special.

If Phoenix takes Wallace they can have Rondo and give us some picks, they could absorb that.

indy have nothing to offer, and wallace contract is not a big deal they'll suck this year, and next year it's an expiring or you can even stretch it to create cap room if needed

I don't see Smart as a 2, I envision him more of a 1 where he can capitalize on his size and strength over other PG's. Playing him at the 2, and alongside Rondo, allows bigger guards to defend him. That's not playing to his strengths.

I can see Smart and Stephenson starting with Bradley backing up both. Stephenson also has the ability to play the 3. I wouldn't want him there exclusively, but he could play the position as evidenced by the way he defends James. So you can pretty much have a 5 guy rotation at the 1, 2, and 3 spots with Green, Stephenson, Smart, Bradley, and whoever wins the last spot (Young, Wallace, etc.)
