I don't think Sullinger understands what "dietary habits" are. If he did, he wouldn't be at 280 lbs, injuries or no injuries.

With his back and ankle problems, it's going to be hard stay mobile. This is first offseason fully healthy. Wait until training camp, then judge him.
Except he's already excusing himself from the "fully healthy" part by whining about his ankle injury. This has to stop.

Getting in shape is not just about your ability to lift weights. In fact, it is just about as much -- if not more -- about what you eat. This is a fact apparently lost on Jared Sullinger.

It shouldn't be rocket science to figure out caloric balance, all you need grade school math. There's no excuse for someone whose job is to stay in shape, and who has the resources of a professional sports franchise available to him.

But cookies taste good!

Even before this discussion, I think we should keep KO and get valued back from sully's potential. I think he would be easier to replace than KO (as there is no shortage of good PFs).

But, really sully, blame it on an ankle. I'm pretty sure there are stationary bikes and a lap pool that you have access to.  This is not a good sign IMO

This is true.

I was 130kg a few years back, then got motivated to get in shape.   I dropped to 93kg in about 8 months on pure dieting,  with no form of excercise or training at all.   Sully only needs to lose maybe 10-12kg, which a guy in his position (where work demands fitness and your paid millions) should have no trouble achieving in 2-3 months.

Just read a brief article on ESPN Boston about KO.  In it he comments on his apparent improvements on his body stating that he wanted to loose weight and increase his strength and mobility.   He was afraid the extra pounds might have hampered his performance last year.  Amazing that KO could recognize this...Sully just recognizes frosting on doughnuts.

I'm not a big KO fan but does anyone think its possible that he supplants Sully at the 4? He's a better passer, shooter and all around offensive player...should open up lanes for Smart to drive and dish.  Thoughts?

I am convinced that KO will be the better player. I expect him to start a majority of games this year.

He's so much more skilled than Sully, IMO...
HOWEVER... i'm not sure how much more "explosive" he can really be... i highly respect him toning down for mobility, but i'd still rather he gain some muscle to get 3-5 more boards per game.

3-4 more boards per game? He was 55th in the league for rebound rate as a rookie--not bad. 3 more per 36 would tie him with Kevin Love for 10th in the league and 4 more would put him at 5th in rate--behind Drummond, Jordan, Bogut and Dieng.

If we intend to go with a Rondo/Smart backcourt, then KO might be our 5 of the immediate future, in a role similar to the one Frye filled for Phoenix and their own 2-pg backcourt.
2016 CelticsBlog Draft: Chicago Bulls

Head Coach: Fred Hoiberg

Starters: Rubio, Danny Green, Durant, Markieff Morris, Capela
Bench: Sessions, Shumpert, G. Green, T. Booker, Frye
Deep Bench: CJ Watson, H. Thompson, P. Zipser, Papagiannis, Mejri

You don't think Sullinger understands this. He's working hard too.

Sully's just trying to deflect attention away from his failure to lose weight. At least I hope he doesn't have the level of disconnect he professes by saying he wants to have more stamina rather than to focus on his weight--without acknowledging how weight loss would improve his stamina.

We'll see, but I'm giving up on him until training camp.

If Kelly just cuts his hair, his lateral quickness will vastly improve, imo ;D  He's not athletic to begin with, so we simply can't have his Jesus/Scola hair adding unneccessary drag - every bit helps! ;D

I hope he is learning how to play the CENTER position...He is 7' tall---and we need something....he could be a Brad Miller type.
He does not have the length for it.
