Avery Bradley & Celtics Agree to 4-year, $32 million contract

This is the best news I've had all day.  I'm thrilled that Avery got a nice, long contract that keeps him a Celtic for the foreseeable future.

Congrats, Avery.  I have no doubt he will work as hard as humanly possible to live up to his contract and maybe even exceed it. 

Avery Bradley was born a Celtic.  Now, he gets to be one for at least four more years.

Are people seriously complaining about a $1-2 million a year overpay to keep AB? 1-2 million is not going to be the reason Kevin Love or any other star doesn't come to Boston. Around 6 mil is fair, but AB has been loyal to the Celts since the beginning and has worked his tail off to improve his offense. He also still has a lot of untapped potential. If any player deserves an overpay, it's probably him.

Bass is not overpaid and his contract isn't ridiculous. What makes you think we are/were stuck with Bass, just because we didn't send him out doesn't mean we couldn't. I would almost guarantee that if Bass remains healthy, he will probably get another 6m per after this one, maybe slightly less because he will be 4yrs older than when Danny signed him for 6.

Yeah, on Jim Rome he said some thing about AB's signing, but new they couldn't give out the details until the 10th. So maybe its a 4 year 32 million S&T....

Probabky wishful thinking, but I'm not really getting the big contract if they are going young. This hurts Smart and Youngs playing time to develop. I also don't see Smart coming off the bench, at least not for long.

Now this could mean a Rondo trade, Smart becomes the PG. But the only trade right now that makes sense is SAC and your getting either McLamore or Stauskas. So that would be 3 young SG's fighting for a spot.

Now they could go and get Lin for Rondo, that would free up cap space next season to sign a FA, but who's going to want to sign with out Rondo here? And any picks we got from Huston would be garbage.

I have a feeling one or more of AB,Rondo,Green along with a newbie are gone this summer, if not at least by the trade deadline.

Either trade with AB or they are bringing in some one of quality and AB is a supporting cast is being cooked up. Especially after the low ball qualifying offer. Thats a big jump from 3 to 8 mill. I can't believe DA is that bad at negotiating contracts.

Even at day two, it's been pretty quite from not only the C's but every one else. Even the GSW/Minni rumors have been quite.

The dude made All-Defensive team (2nd), averaged 15ppg as a 23 year-old, and shot 40% on 3PTs. Everyone is entitled to their theories about how to build a team or which players are worth the money, but the market for Bradley was at *least* a $32M deal. It looks like Gordon Hayward is about to make twice as much as a 3rd banana who can't defend.

Exactly. I posted a long, extensive comment back on page 14 regarding the exact same subject. There is all this hate for Avery Bradley, and a contract that is perfectly in line with his skillset and output. Not to mention the fact that he is improving every year, especially offensively, and he is still only 23 yrs old.

And then people will turn around and harp on how much they want Gordon Hayward, who could end up costing Twice what Bradley does. And Hayward just came off a season where he was a top option for his team like Bradley, yet he didn't handle the pressure and he shot the ball horribly. Can he pass better than Bradley? Yes. But that's it. And we have the best passer in the game named Rondo. We also have guys like Olynyk and Sully who are solid passing bigs (especially Oly) , and Smart should be doing so ball handling /passing as well. So we don't need our best spot-up shooter (Bradley) to worry much about intricate passing.

Is there an audio on him saying he couldn't talk about the bradley deal. Because i know this morn there was a tweet saying ainge and stevens wouldnt comment on the bradley deal. Could it mean a sign and trade maybe?

It means you're not supposed to comment on deals until they become official and no free agent signing can be made official until after the July moratorium.

but you gotta take those numbers and subtract 25% because he's usually pretty lucky to make it through 75% of a season.
