Well, at least Gerald Wallace is no longer our worst contract.  ;D

"Bang for your buck", he certainly still is.

the issue with thinking the cap will go up $3+ million every year it that it absolutely will not. yes it will go up again next year by a good amount, but then the owners will opt out of the current CBA after the 2016-17 season.

the NBA players are notoriously bad at saving there money and get killed in every lockout, the odds of that changing are slim. so the 16-17 cap will be ~$68 million but the 17-18  cap (if there even is a season) will probably end up no more then $70 million and the 18-19 cap no more then $72 million.

its possible the owners will fudge the numbers some, plus with the Nets bleeding money the cap could go up only $3 million next year and stay the same for at least 1 season after the next lockout.

Right, but we don't know the details of Bradley's deal: if it actually is substantially front loaded (pure speculation), the cap only needs to go up substantially next season in order for the contract to still be ok for the C's.

I was gonna write an in-depth post in this thread, until I realized that it was already 13 pages long. I didn't have time to read through the whole thread either cause it's a hectic day for me today. Anyhow, I'm almost positive that there's at least a dozen posts that say something to the extent of "boo, that's way too much for Bradley. He's worth 5mill per yr at most. We should've signed Hayward instead."

Even though Hayward is gonna get way overpaid, plays no defense, and the only guy he could lockdown on D like Bradley does to SGs on a nightly basis is Stick Stickly from Nickelodeon. Not to mention the fact that Hayward's efficiency was horrid last year under the pressure of being a top option. Meanwhile Bradley drained 3s at nearly 40% , and took his mid range game to a whole new level. And people forget that Bradley lead the team in shots in many games last yr, so you can't compare Bradley to Hayward and blame Hayward's downfall on him being the "top option" in Utah.

Oh well though. I wish I had time to read through this whole thread and debate with all the Hayward  lover / Bradley haters, but there's been plenty of that all season all ready.

I just wish I could find my post where I mentioned in the "4yrs 24 mill" Bradley thread that he would be offered 8 to 10 mill per yr by one team or another...whether it was from the Celts or not. A lot of people ripped on that comment about it being a huge overpayment.

We all like saying I told ya so sometimes tho, haha. It's part of life on the Celtsblog.

But anyhow, I'm very happy with the Bradley signing. I've been hoping for a cpl yrs now that he and Rondo would make up at least a major part of our backcourt of the future, even if Bradley doesn't start. And pending the fact that none of our top guards are traded, Rondo, Bradley, and Smart are gonna be a three-headed monster mashing defensive terror for opposing backcourts.

$32 million for Bradley?

What a huge mistake.

Too small, too fragile, and not very good. What a waste of money.

And, pray tell, what would be your alternative use of that money?

I would even pull a 76ers and just pay the rest of the team up to the salary floor to keep our options open for next year.  We could probably afford two max FAs next summer if we're able to package Wallace's expiring in a trade.  Now we can't do that.  Treadmill move through and through

Which big?  For how much money?  Would you have signed Bradley for less, or not at all?  If you would have kept him for less, how much?

I'd rather see the Sixers successfully use all their cap space before I followed that path.  I think they're going to have a fun time convincing a star looking for his third contract to come play there.

If Bradley gets 8 mil a year then Rondo is gonna want 30 mil a year now.

If one side opts out, it's going to be the players not the owners.  The owners got a rather one-sided deal last time and the players deserve to get back some of what they lost.
